Research Associate (Math Foundation of AI)

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

The group of Wang Zhongjian is looking for postdocs working on scientific computing and machine learning related topics. The funding is currently under a MOE grant entitled: Towards Infinite Dimensional Generative Models. The contract period of the position is up to three years subject to funding availability.

Applicants should be familiar with and have track records in at least one of the following fields: approximation of neural networks, convergence of Langevin/MC sampling, analysis and algorithm design of interacting particle systems, operator learning, regularity theories in inverse/scattering problems. Once successful, the candidate is expected to transfer his expertise to machine learning/scientific computing in collaborations with other group members (phd students, exchange graduate students, etc). When projects are required, the group will provide reasonable GPGPU computing resources from the NSCC. The review of candidates will be conducted monthly until all the positions are filled. Once applied on Workday, the candidate may drop an email with application packages for faster screening.

Job Requirements:

• Master’s degree in mathematics or related areas, with focus on numerical analysis or machine learning.

• Candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis or are awaiting thesis examination and award of the PhD degree are welcome to apply.

• Experience in computational math.

• Proficient in coding languages, such as C, C++, Fortran, and Python.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong publication record.
