Senior macOS Objective-C Developer

We are looking for an experienced Senior macOS Objective-C Developer to join a long-term product development project for a European software company specializing in professional desktop imaging and photo-editing solutions.

• Distribution: Notarized direct distribution for macOS
• AI Tools: AI coding agents used for investigation, development, testing, and refactoring

Key Responsibilities

• Independently pick up and analyze development tickets.
• Investigate defects and technical issues in a large, mature macOS codebase.
• Propose technical solutions based on analysis of the existing implementation.
• Implement, test, and deliver fixes and product enhancements.
• Develop primarily in Objective-C and modern C++, with Swift where appropriate.
• Work with AppKit/Cocoa and macOS-specific application architecture.
• Develop and maintain functionality using Core Data.
• Work with multithreading and concurrency using Grand Central Dispatch and related technologies.
• Investigate and resolve memory-management, stability, and performance issues.
• Use debugging and profiling tools to diagnose complex application behavior.
• Add and maintain unit and acceptance tests.
• Participate actively in code reviews.
• Work across multiple frameworks and modules within a large Xcode workspace.
• Use AI coding agents for investigation, testing, refactoring, and development support.
• Critically review, validate, and improve AI-generated solutions before integrating them into the production codebase.
• Deliver complete, tested, and review-ready changes with limited day-to-day supervision.
• Collaborate with other macOS developers and participate in technical discussions with the customer team.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of production Objective-C development for macOS.
• Strong hands-on experience with AppKit and Cocoa.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining complex production macOS applications.
• Strong practical knowledge of modern C++ (C++17 or later).
• Ability to work confidently across Objective-C and C++ code.
• Experience working with large, mature, long-lived codebases.
• Experience with multi-framework Xcode workspaces.
• Strong knowledge of Core Data.
• Strong understanding of Grand Central Dispatch, multithreading, and concurrency.
• Strong understanding of memory management in macOS applications.
• Practical experience with debugging and performance profiling.
• Ability to investigate technical problems independently and identify root causes.
• Ability to propose and implement technically sound solutions with minimal supervision.
• Experience delivering tested, production-ready, review-ready code.
• Practical experience using AI coding agents as part of daily software development.
• Ability to critically assess AI-generated code and technical suggestions rather than using them without validation.
• Experience participating in code reviews.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• English level B2/C1 for daily written and verbal communication, technical discussions, and code reviews.
