Join Us to Support Critical National Infrastructure

Neos Networks is seeking experienced engineers with a proven background working within operational electricity substations. This role is focused on providing safe and compliant access to critical telecoms infrastructure located within high-voltage transmission and distribution environments.

We are particularly interested in candidates who hold a current SSEN Category 3 (Cat 3a) Authorisation or equivalent utility substation authorisation and have experience operating safely within live electrical environments.

The Opportunity

Our telecoms network forms part of the critical communications infrastructure supporting utility and enterprise customers across the UK. Many of these assets are located within operational substations and switching stations, making authorised access and an understanding of substation safety requirements essential.

This position offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of operational sites, supporting network maintenance, fault restoration, inspections and project delivery activities where substation access is a key requirement.

Essential Requirements

Mandatory

  • Current SSEN Certificate of Authorisation Category 3 (Cat 3a) or equivalent utility network authorisation.
  • Demonstrable experience working within operational High Voltage substations and switching stations.
  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work within electrical transmission and distribution environments.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple locations while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Desired Experience

  • Previous work supporting telecoms, utilities, power or critical infrastructure networks.
  • Experience working with National Grid, DNO or utility environments.
  • Knowledge of substation access procedures, permit systems and site safety requirements.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Additional utility or electrical safety authorisations.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be a safety-focused engineer who understands the responsibilities associated with working in critical infrastructure environments. You will be trusted to represent Neos Networks on customer and utility sites, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, professionally and in compliance with site-specific requirements.

More importantly than a broad telecoms skillset, we are looking for individuals who can bring existing substation access capability, utility site experience and Cat 3 authorisation, enabling them to operate effectively from day one.

Why Join Neos Networks?

  • Work within critical national infrastructure environments.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Company vehicle provided.
  • Opportunities for further training and development.
  • Be part of a highly skilled team supporting some of the UK's most important network assets.

Next Steps

All applications should be submitted online. If you require any adjustments during the recruitment process, please contact [email protected].

Note: Candidates holding a current SSEN Cat 3 Authorisation will be strongly preferred, as substation access capability is the primary requirement for this role.
