Internal Audit Manager

Company and Job Description:

This is a senior opportunity for an audit professional who is comfortable operating in a consulting environment, managing engagements, engaging with senior stakeholders and leading a team of audit professionals.

The role offers the opportunity to move beyond traditional audit execution and play a key part in delivering risk, governance, control and advisory solutions to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage internal audit engagements from planning through to completion
• Develop risk-based audit plans and detailed audit programmes
• Lead and oversee internal audit assignments across various business functions
• Evaluate internal controls, governance structures and risk management processes
• Identify control gaps, risks and opportunities for improvement
• Prepare high-quality audit reports and present findings to senior stakeholders
• Provide internal audit consulting and advisory services to clients
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Manage, mentor and develop internal audit team members
• Review audit working papers and ensure quality standards are maintained
• Monitor implementation of agreed audit recommendations
• Conduct risk assessments and identify emerging risks
• Provide practical and value-adding recommendations to management
• Manage multiple engagements, deadlines and stakeholder expectations
• Support business development and consulting opportunities where required

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• CIA qualification essential
• CA(SA) or BCom Accounting, Finance, Internal Audit or related degree
• Additional internal audit, risk or governance qualifications advantageous

• Minimum 5 years' internal audit experience
• 10+ years' experience advantageous
• Proven management and team leadership experience
• Consulting or advisory experience highly advantageous
• Strong exposure to risk management, governance and internal controls
• Experience managing internal audit engagements
• Proven ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders
