Senior Ruby on Rails Developer

The successful candidate will take ownership of key platform components, working closely with Product and Design teams to develop robust customer-facing solutions. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality software, improving system performance, and helping shape the technical direction of a growing platform.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll have the opportunity to contribute across the full software development lifecycle while mentoring fellow developers and driving best engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain features across Ruby on Rails applications.
• Lead complex development initiatives from planning through deployment.
• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to deliver intuitive and scalable customer experiences.
• Build and maintain APIs and third-party integrations.
• Improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Design and optimise data models for high-volume transactional environments.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Contribute to infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and developer tooling.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while addressing root causes.
• Support the adoption and effective use of AI-assisted development practices.
• Mentor developers and contribute to engineering excellence across the team.

Job Experience and Skills Required

• Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Extensive experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments.
• Proven experience building scalable, customer-facing applications.
• Experience designing and maintaining APIs and integrations.
• Strong background in high-performance transaction-based systems.
• Experience mentoring developers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives.
