Technician

This role offers the opportunity to work across desktops, servers, Microsoft 365, backups, networking, and data-centre environments, making it ideal for a technically capable individual who enjoys a varied workload and taking ownership of technical solutions. You will work closely with internal users, external vendors, and senior IT leadership to ensure systems remain stable, secure, and highly available.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day desktop, hardware, and software support to internal users
• Manage user accounts, password resets, equipment setup, and Microsoft 365 administration
• Assist with server builds, deployments, and post-implementation monitoring
• Travel to data-centre facilities to support physical server installations and hardware maintenance
• Coordinate with hardware and software vendors for quotes, repairs, and support services
• Troubleshoot and support internal applications, systems, and services
• Maintain accurate asset registers and track hardware and software lifecycles
• Monitor backup processes and perform restore activities when required
• Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and support reports
• Support business continuity and operational reliability initiatives

• Education: Matric certificate essential
• Preferred: Diploma or relevant IT certification (A+, N+, or related)
• Experience:
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a Help Desk, IT Support, or Junior Systems Administration role
• Experience supporting users in a business environment
• Exposure to infrastructure and server administration activities
• Technical Skills:
• Desktop hardware support and software installation
• Basic network troubleshooting
• Microsoft 365 administration and mailbox management
• Windows Server administration
• Backup and restore procedures
• SFTP/FTP administration
• SSH key-based authentication
• Endpoint protection and anti-virus administration
• Asset management and ticketing systems
• Advantageous:
• Firewall technologies and network security concepts
• Microsoft Azure
• Virtualisation technologies
• Data-centre and hosting environments
• Additional Requirements:
• Strong ownership mentality and ability to work independently
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle (essential)
• Comfortable with regular travel between sites
• Willingness to work in a fully on-site environment
