SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Chief Design Engineer – Armoured Vehicles to lead and oversee the design, development and engineering of specialised armoured vehicle platforms and associated systems.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across the complete engineering design lifecycle, from conceptualisation and product development through to prototyping, testing, validation and production. This role requires an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in vehicle design, mechanical engineering, structural integration and the development of complex engineered solutions.

POSITION INFO:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Chief Design Engineer - Armoured Vehicles to lead and oversee the design, development and engineering of specialised armoured vehicle platforms and associated systems. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across the complete engineering design lifecycle, from conceptualisation and product development through to prototyping, testing, validation and production. This role requires an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in vehicle design, mechanical engineering, structural integration and the development of complex engineered solutions. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the engineering design and development of armoured vehicle platforms and related systems. Provide technical direction and leadership to multidisciplinary design and engineering teams. Oversee conceptual, detailed and production engineering design activities. Ensure vehicle designs meet operational, performance, safety, quality and regulatory requirements. Manage the integration of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and other vehicle subsystems. Oversee structural design, chassis development, vehicle packaging and component integration. Drive design reviews, technical evaluations, engineering calculations and design verification. Lead prototyping, testing, validation and product improvement initiatives. Ensure engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials and technical documentation meet required standards. Identify and resolve complex technical and design challenges. Work closely with manufacturing, production, procurement, project management and other engineering departments. Manage engineering project deliverables, technical risks, budgets and timelines. Drive continuous improvement, design optimisation and innovation. Ensure compliance with relevant defence industry standards, engineering practices and quality management systems. Minimum Requirements B.Eng. or B.Sc. Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Extensive experience in mechanical design and engineering development. Proven experience in the design and development of armoured vehicles, military vehicles or specialised automotive platforms. Strong understanding of vehicle architecture, structural design and mechanical systems integration. Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and design teams. Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering projects from concept through to production. Strong understanding of engineering design principles, manufacturing processes and product lifecycle management. Proficiency in 3D CAD design software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX or equivalent. Advantageous Experience Experience in military, defence or tactical vehicle development. Knowledge of ballistic protection, armour integration and blast protection principles. Experience with vehicle mobility, suspension systems, drivetrains and powertrain integration. Understanding of MIL-SPEC requirements and defence industry engineering standards. Experience in prototype development, testing and qualification.
