Senior Developer I - Full Stack Python Engineer (Fixed Income Technology)

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to build modern, intuitive web applications and a microservices-based backend that powers Fixed Income investment workflows (trading, portfolio construction, risk and analytics). This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role partnering closely with portfolio managers, quantitative teams and research to deliver scalable, production-ready platforms.

You will design and develop front-end user experiences as well as backend services and APIs, including event-driven components leveraging Kafka. Success in this role requires a builder mindset-someone who can take ambiguous problems from concept to production-paired with strong engineering judgment around service boundaries, API design, testing strategy and operational readiness. You should be comfortable working directly with investment stakeholders and iterating quickly while maintaining high quality.

What you’ll do (Responsibilities)

• Partner with Fixed Income investment, research and quant stakeholders to clarify requirements, define scope, and translate needs into technical designs and plan deliverables.

• Design, build, and maintain interactiveweb applications (React/PythonFlask/Dash) used by investment professionals.

• Build RESTful APIs and microservices (Python/Flask/FastAPI)to support data access, business logic, and workflow orchestration.

• Implement event-driven patternsusing Kafka (producers/consumers,topic design, partitions/consumer groups, error handling/retries, and delivery semantics where applicable).

• Contribute to data platform work: modeling, pipelines, validation, transformation, and integration with analytics/reporting use cases (e.g., Snowflake + SQL).

• Own end-to-end delivery: design, development, code review, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Improve engineering quality and operability through standards for testing, documentation, CI/CD, monitoring, and alerting.

• Mentor engineers and lead by example in design reviews, pull requests, and production readiness practices.

• Collaborate with platform/release teams on deployments and operational processes.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering (or equivalent practical experience).

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering enterprise-grade applications.

• Strong communication skills and a track record of ownership, delivery, and collaboration with non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong full-stack experience across:

  • Front end: 2+ years building UIs with at least one of either React (and modern TypeScript/JavaScriptpractices) OR Python Flask/Django/Dash.

  • Back end: 4+ years building services in Python (FastAPI/Flaskstrongly preferred; Pandas/NumPy required)

  • 3+ years hands-on SQL databases - MS SQL Server / Snowflake / Postgres

  • Data modeling and database design; ability to troubleshoot complex data issues

• Strong OOPS Fundamentals.

• Experience containerizing applications with Docker anddeploying them to OpenShift (orcomparable Kubernetes platforms or Azure)

Nice to have:

• Experience in Asset Management / Financial Services, especially supporting Fixed Income users and workflows. Familiarity with Fixed Income instruments (e.g., U.S. Treasuries, IG/HY credit, EM debt, mortgages).

• OMS/platform exposure (e.g., Aladdin, Perform) and/or credit investment platforms (e.g., Allvue Everest).

• Experience in building dashboards in Tableau / Power BI.

• Messaging/eventing experience using Kafka (orsimilar) in production systems.

• Experience in using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) effectively within secure engineering practices.

• Knowledge of Agentic AI frameworks - LangChain / LangGraph / Open AI.

This is a hybrid position. Currently, the hybrid work schedule for this position is 2-3 days in the office. Please understand that the hybrid schedule may be modified or eliminated at any time at Neuberger’s discretion.

Compensation Details

The salary range for this role is $130,000-$170,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the job posting location. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, business sector, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, market benchmarking data, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, which, along with base salary and retirement contributions, is part of our total comprehensive package.
