Nexperia is a Dutch semiconductor company created in 2017 when NXP separated its standard products division, and it makes the discrete transistors, diodes, logic devices and power management chips that appear in almost every electronic product. These are high-volume, low-price parts shipped in the tens of billions annually, where the competitive question is manufacturing cost and supply reliability rather than design sophistication. Headquartered in Nijmegen and owned by the Chinese group Wingtech, it has been at the centre of European and British government interventions over foreign ownership of semiconductor capacity.

Nexperia is committed to continued growth through next-generation technologies, sustainable manufacturing, state-of-the-art facilities and, most importantly, investing in our people.

We are looking for a Group Leader to join Nexperia and lead a production area within our busy wafer fabrication facility. Reporting directly to the Shift Manager, you will be accountable for the performance of your area, providing clear leadership and acting as the main point of contact for operational and people-related matters.

This is a shift-based role working four nights on and four nights off, from 7pm to 7am.

Please note, we cannot support visa sponsorship for this role, only applicants with full right to work in the UK.

What you will do

As Group Leader, you will lead and develop your team while ensuring production priorities are understood and delivered safely and effectively. You will take ownership of your area’s performance and contribute directly to the Fab’s key performance indicators, including starts, outs, deliveries and throughput.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the safe and effective operation of your area, ensuring compliance with all relevant procedures and standards.
  • Monitoring area performance and taking timely action to address production issues, risks and priorities.
  • Managing and developing your team through regular feedback, coaching, mentoring and performance reviews.
  • Managing people-related matters fairly and consistently, including attendance, disciplinary and capability processes.
  • Planning staffing levels and skills coverage, including holiday, overtime, training and area flexibility.
  • Working closely with other Group Leaders, engineering, planning and support functions to resolve issues and achieve Fab priorities.
  • Ensuring effective communication throughout the shift, including clear instructions, escalation and shift handovers.
  • Using production data to identify trends, understand performance and present clear updates and analysis.
  • Leading and supporting continuous improvement activity to improve safety, quality, output, flexibility and cost.
  • Managing the area’s indirect budget and identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
  • Building an engaged and accountable team that works together to achieve and exceed company targets.

The successful candidate will be expected to stabilise and continuously improve their area, increase workforce flexibility and deliver sustainable performance against short-, medium- and long-term objectives.

What you will need

  • The ability to work four nights on and four nights off, from 7pm to 7am
  • Previous team leadership, deputy leadership, coaching or mentoring experience.
  • A proven ability to lead, engage and develop others.
  • Strong organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage changing production priorities.
  • Effective communication skills and the confidence to communicate at all levels.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to read, understand, analyse and present production data.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to follow and apply company processes consistently.

What your benefits will include

Remuneration and Reward - Competitive base salary with a 50% shift allowance, Annual Incentive Plan, excellent contributory pension scheme of up to 9%, EV salary sacrifice scheme, recognition rewards, income protection and 12-times salary life assurance.

Health and Wellbeing - 257.4 hours of annual leave including bank holidays, flexible benefits scheme, enhanced sick pay, on-site medical centre, subsidised canteen, employee assistance programme, retail and entertainment discounts, and a variety of sports and social clubs.

Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability - A global commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2035, working with suppliers who comply with the Nexperia Supplier Code of Conduct, and paid time off for employees to support charitable work.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - Corporate membership of Neurodiversity in Business and recognition as a Disability Confident Employer. Dedicated Employee Resource Groups support Neuroinclusion, the LGBTQ+ community and Women in Nexperia, alongside a commitment to increase the number of women in management positions to 30% by 2030.
