Nexperia is a Dutch semiconductor company created in 2017 when NXP separated its standard products division, and it makes the discrete transistors, diodes, logic devices and power management chips that appear in almost every electronic product. These are high-volume, low-price parts shipped in the tens of billions annually, where the competitive question is manufacturing cost and supply reliability rather than design sophistication. Headquartered in Nijmegen and owned by the Chinese group Wingtech, it has been at the centre of European and British government interventions over foreign ownership of semiconductor capacity.

At Nexperia Manchester, we are expanding our Quality team with the addition of a Senior Lab Equipment Engineer. If you are a proactive engineer who takes full ownership of outcomes, delivers results, and drives continuous improvement, we want to hear from you.

In return, aside from a strong corporate remuneration package with a host of benefits, we offer you entry onto a very supportive team working Monday to Friday days, excellent career progression routes and meaningful work making a real impact on a global semiconductor manufacturer producing over 100 billion devices every year.

Please note this Senior Lab Equipment Engineer role is located in Stockport and you must have full right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship to be considered.

What you will do

As a Senior Lab Equipment Engineer, you are accountable for the reliability, performance, and continuous maintenance and improvement of laboratory equipment used in semiconductor testing. You’ll be used to working to exacting standards and tight deadlines because, put simply, without the equipment in the lab functioning, the company can’t produce products.

Duties will include:

  • Owning preventative and corrective maintenance to maximise up-time and ensuring quality and safety compliance
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues
  • Defining requirements and supporting the integration of new equipment
  • Monitoring performance data and delivering measurable improvements in reliability and efficiency
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives with clear, sustained outcomes
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining documentation
  • Owning RCA activities (4C/8D), driving actions through to closure and verification

What you will need

Essential

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, or significant experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a service engineering, maintenance, or test lab environment
  • Proven track record in equipment troubleshooting, system integration, and project delivery in a technical environment
  • Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and/or mechanical and/or software systems

Beneficial

  • Experience with lab/test equipment, maintenance processes, and calibration requirements
  • Experience in semiconductor, high-volume test environments or highly regulated environments
  • Knowledge of characterisation, reliability testing, or surface mount standards
  • LabVIEW or Python programming skills, or experience of PCB design

Interview process

Stage 1: Recruiter Review

Stage 2: 60-minute Technical Interview over Teams

Stage 3: 60-minute Competency Interview face to face

Your benefits will include

Remuneration & Reward - £45000-£50000/annum, Bonus up to 6%, excellent contributory pension scheme of up to 9%, recognition rewards scheme, EV salary sacrifice scheme, income protection, 12 x salary life assurance policy.
