The Opportunity

We're looking for a Junior Clinical Scientist who is passionate about applying clinical knowledge to healthcare technology, biomedical research, and AI-driven product development.

In this role, you will work closely with Clinical, Data Science, and Software Engineering teams to support the development and validation of AI and data-driven solutions. You will contribute your clinical understanding to data curation, annotation, clinical interpretation, research, and the development of scientifically and clinically sound product requirements.

The role provides an opportunity to work with real-world healthcare data, including EHRs, patient notes, medical codes, laboratory data, and physiological data such as ECGs, while gaining exposure to machine learning and healthcare technology.

The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in medicine, attention to detail, an interest in clinical research, and the ability to translate clinical concepts into structured requirements for technology teams.

What You'll Do

• Work closely with Data Scientists and Software Engineers on the development of AI and deep-learning models for healthcare applications, including models involving ECG and other clinical data.
• Support the preparation and curation of datasets used for AI and machine learning development.
• Perform high-quality clinical data annotation and tagging according to defined guidelines and quality standards.
• Review annotated data for clinical accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
• Curate and validate disease codes, procedure codes, laboratory codes, and other clinical terminology from internal and external sources.
• Review patient notes and other EHR data to identify and interpret clinically relevant information.
• Apply clinical knowledge to understand patterns, relationships, and potential inconsistencies in healthcare datasets.
• Perform basic interpretation of ECGs and other relevant clinical information as required for specific projects.
• Support clinical validation of datasets, algorithms, and AI-generated outputs by identifying clinically relevant errors or inconsistencies.
• Work with Data Science teams to provide clinical context for model development, evaluation, and improvement.
• Translate clinical requirements and workflows into clear, clinically sound, and scientifically relevant user stories and product requirements.
• Use existing applications and tools to investigate clinical use cases and support product development.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Clinical teams to clarify requirements and resolve domain-specific questions.
• Support literature reviews and clinical or scientific research relevant to ongoing projects.
• Assist in defining appropriate clinical concepts, terminology, outcomes, and data elements for research and product use cases.
• Contribute to documentation of clinical definitions, data sources, annotation guidelines, research findings, and project requirements.
• Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure clinical data and outputs meet defined standards.
• Identify gaps or ambiguities in clinical data and work with relevant teams to resolve them.
• Stay updated on relevant clinical, scientific, and healthcare technology developments and assess their potential relevance to ongoing projects.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• MBBS degree is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of clinical medicine and patient care.
• Ability to understand and interpret clinical information from patient records and healthcare datasets.
• Basic understanding of ECG interpretation.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with clinical data and annotation tasks.
• Strong interest in clinical research, healthcare technology, AI, and product development.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including clinicians, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Product teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to understand complex clinical problems and communicate them clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently on defined tasks while seeking appropriate guidance when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Clinical or academic exposure to Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, or ICU settings.
• Familiarity with EHR systems, clinical documentation, patient notes, or healthcare datasets.
• Experience with clinical data annotation, medical coding, data curation, or clinical research.
• Basic understanding of Python or R.
• Basic understanding of SQL.
• Basic understanding of biostatistics and clinical research methodology.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, disease classifications, procedure codes, laboratory terminology, or healthcare ontologies.
• Exposure to AI, machine learning, deep learning, or healthcare analytics projects.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary research, healthcare, or technology teams.
• Experience contributing to scientific publications, research projects, clinical studies, or healthcare product development.
