IT PROJECT MANAGER

A six month opportunity is available for an experienced IT Project Manager to take ownership of technology project delivery, ensuring projects are completed within agreed timelines, scope, budget and quality standards.

This role requires a structured and detail-oriented professional who can manage project plans, coordinating technical teams, engaging with clients and stakeholders, and proactively addressing risks and delivery challenges. The successful candidate will bring practical experience in both Agile and Waterfall environments, with the ability to adapt project management approaches to meet business and technical requirements..

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Delivery

• Develop, maintain and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, milestones and deliverables.
• Define project scope, objectives, resource requirements and delivery timelines.
• Coordinate project activities and allocate tasks to relevant team members.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential delays and implement corrective actions where required.
• Manage multiple project activities concurrently, ensuring alignment with business objectives and client expectations.
• Facilitate Agile and Waterfall project management processes, as appropriate.

Stakeholder and Communication Management

• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, project teams, sponsors and other stakeholders.
• Provide regular project status updates, progress reports and escalation of critical issues.
• Coordinate project meetings, track action items and ensure timely resolution of outstanding matters.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer to designated team members and relevant client representatives.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and stakeholder.

Risk, Scope and Quality Management

• Identify, assess and monitor project risks, issues, dependencies and constraints.
• Maintain risk and issue registers and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Monitor project scope and manage changes through appropriate change-control processes.
• Ensure project deliverables meet agreed requirements, quality standards and acceptance criteria.
• Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date project documentation.

Technical Team Coordination

• Work closely with technical teams to coordinate design, development, implementation and delivery activities.
• Support the project team in resolving delivery challenges and managing technical dependencies.
• Ensure project requirements, priorities and deliverables are clearly understood by all relevant team members.
• Coordinate project closure, handover and documentation to support effective operational transition.

Experience and Technical Skills

• Minimum of three years’ experience in IT project management.
• Demonstrable experience managing technology projects using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Experience developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, resource allocations and progress reports.
• Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, ProjectManager.com or equivalent platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Working knowledge of cloud computing and digital transformation initiatives.
• Ability to coordinate technical teams and manage client-facing project deliverables.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Information Technology, Information Systems, Informatics or a related discipline.
• A degree in one of these disciplines at NQF Level 7 will be advantageous.
• PMP certification and/or a recognised Agile project management certification is required.
• ITIL or IT Service Management (ITSM) certification will be advantageous.
