Nokia is a Finnish telecommunications equipment company founded in 1865 as a paper mill, which became the world's largest mobile phone maker in the 1990s before selling that business to Microsoft in 2014. It now supplies network infrastructure to operators and enterprises, covering radio access equipment for mobile networks, optical and IP routing for transport networks, fixed broadband access, and a technologies division that licenses its cellular patent portfolio. Headquartered in Espoo and listed in Helsinki and New York, it runs Nokia Bell Labs as its research arm and has been expanding into data centre networking as operator spending has slowed.

The Solution Architect & TPM leads the concept design, detailed engineering, system integration, verification, and validation of telecom solutions for railway and metro domains. The role includes planning the design and deployment of integrated communication systems, ensuring reliability, safety, security, EMC compliance, and alignment with operational practices. This position requires hands-on involvement in system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting, as well as managing multi-vendor technical relationships and maintaining strong customer engagement during on-site integration activities.

The Solution Architect also contributes to pre sales by preparing technical specifications and conceptual designs and ensures that all documentation, interfaces, and requirements are properly defined and managed throughout the project life cycle.

  • Perform concept design, detailed design, integration, verification, and validation of complete telecom solutions.
  • Plan the design, installation, testing, and deployment of integrated communication systems for metros and mainline railways.
  • Design optimized integrated solutions in compliance with reliability, safety, security, EMC/EMI, RAMS, and environmental standards, including CENELEC requirements.
  • Define and manage system interfaces and technical requirements throughout the project.
  • Validate the solution in the customer environment, ensuring full coverage of contract requirements.
  • Execute system and subsystem test plans to verify interoperability across multi-vendor platforms.
  • Ensure final system performance and support customer acceptance through comprehensive validation and testing.
  • Manage technical relationships with third-party suppliers and internal engineering teams.
  • Lead on-site integration activities, maintaining strong customer communication and support.
  • Produce and maintain design documentation, delivery documentation, V&V procedures, and T&C procedures.
  • Support pre sales activities by preparing technical specifications and conceptual solution designs.
  • Perform hands-on activities such as installation, configuration, FAT, subsystem testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, O&M, and preparation of as-built documentation.
  • Ensure seamless integration of subsystems across wayside, on-board systems, stations, control centers, and depots.

Required:

  • Proven experience delivering integrated telecom projects in Metro, Railway, Transportation, or Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Strong background in telecom system integration, including design, testing, commissioning, and validation.

Architecture and solution design experience with:

    • Wi-Fi systems (Aruba solutions preferred)
    • LTE, 5G, and TETRA technologies
  • Strong knowledge of network design and troubleshooting, including IP and IP/MPLS (certifications desirable).
  • Broad technical experience across integrated communication systems for rail and metro environments.
  • Hands-on expertise with installation, configuration, FAT, subsystem testing, commissioning, O&M, troubleshooting, and integration of third-party systems.
  • Knowledge of railway standards and methodologies, including CENELEC, RAMS, EMC/EMI, safety, and security compliance.
  • Ability to produce detailed technical documentation, interface definitions, and system design materials.
  • Fluency in English (French is a plus).

Desirable:

  • Membership in IRSE or INCOSE.
  • Familiarity with radio planning tools.
  • Experience preparing technical designs for pre sales opportunities.
