Position Description:

The PEACC Center in the Division of Student Affairs is seeking to hire a Department Coordinator IV. The Department Coordinator provides support, advocacy to connect with resources, and referrals to students impacted by power-based personal violence in the University community. The Department Coordinator works to end power-based violence through prevention strategies and initiatives, education and outreach, and by assisting and providing advocacy to connect to resources for students affected by sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, or sexual harassment. The Department Coordinator serves as the lead intake clinician and advocate providing support to students impacted by power-based violence, ensuring all services provided are confidential and personalized with the goal of providing students with information regarding their options and keeping their safety and wellbeing as the focus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized support and advocacy to connect with resources and services for students by providing referrals to therapeutic services and legal services both on campus and in the community at large

  • Assist the Senior Manager with the design, coordination and presentation of prevention educational programming related to power-based violence and services and resources for the campus community

  • Assist in the development and implementation of outreach and projects designed for University functions such as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, etc.

  • Train, engage and supervise student staff and volunteers and graduate practicum trainee students assigned to the PEACC Center

  • Leverage social media and creates marketing materials to increase campus and student awareness

  • Provide outreach and programming for personal violence prevention and consultation to referring faculty and staff

  • Assist in coordination of program research, data collection and annual reporting as required by government regulations

  • Attend training and conferences for professional development as applicable

  • Serve as the PEACC Center representative on campus and community committees and develop collaborative partnerships to strengthen prevention initiatives throughout the campus community

  • Support The PEACC Center’s daily operations including performing administrative tasks and managing crisis/emergency needs

  • Assist with other Division initiatives and operations such as freshman orientation, Welcome Week, and resident move-in events

  • Perform other duties and complete special projects as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, public health, psychology, sociology, or a related field

  • Two (2) years of professional experience related to prevention and advocacy to connect clients to resources and services

  • 40-hour Victim Advocacy training certification

  • Sexual harassment prevention training certification

  • Experience designing and implementing successful outreach programs

  • Experience effectively working with student populations

  • Experience participating on committees for coalition-building

  • Experience working constructively and with a positive attitude in an institutional setting

  • Marketing and/or graphic design experience

Work Hours and Location

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a 37.5-hour regular workweek including evening and weekend hours as required. Additional work hours may be required based on department needs, programming, staffing, and/or scheduling. The primary work location for this position is at the Belknap Campus. Occasional overnight travel (for professional development and conferences) may be required.
