This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed engineer with a strong background in geotechnical engineering who enjoys managing projects, providing technical oversight, and working directly with clients.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with geotechnical investigations, engineering analysis, foundation and earthwork recommendations, and technical report preparation and review. Experience supporting Construction Materials Testing (CMT), Special Inspections, and/or Threshold Inspections is highly preferred and would be especially valuable in this role.

NOVA supports a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, retail, government, office, transportation, and residential projects. This position will play an important role in reviewing technical reports, mentoring junior staff, managing projects, and delivering practical engineering solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee subsurface investigations, including soil borings, test pits, field testing, laboratory testing, and related field activities.
  • Perform and review geotechnical engineering analyses and develop recommendations related to foundation systems, site preparation, earthwork, settlement, bearing capacity, groundwater conditions, pavement systems, and other geotechnical considerations.
  • Prepare, review, and approve geotechnical engineering reports, calculations, recommendations, and other technical deliverables.
  • Serve as a technical reviewer to ensure reports are accurate, technically sound, and consistent with applicable standards and project requirements.
  • Provide engineering oversight and technical support during the construction phase, including evaluation of field conditions and resolution of geotechnical issues.
  • Provide technical oversight for Construction Materials Testing and Inspection activities as needed, including soils, concrete, masonry, asphalt, and related construction materials.
  • Support and/or provide engineering oversight for Special Inspections and Threshold Inspections, depending on candidate experience and qualifications.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to staff engineers, field technicians, inspectors, and other technical personnel.
  • Coordinate with contractors, developers, architects, structural engineers, civil engineers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Develop project scopes, proposals, budgets, and schedules while monitoring projects for technical quality and financial performance.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to provide additional geotechnical, testing, and inspection services.
  • Participate in business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client meetings, and project pursuits.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, or an equivalent international degree with NCEES credential evaluation, is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, special inspections, and construction materials testing.
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, subsurface conditions, foundation engineering, earthwork, and construction-phase geotechnical services.
  • Ability to independently review technical reports, calculations, field data, and engineering recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and client relationships.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:
