Technical Program Manager, AI Physical Deployment

About the Role

The Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Data Center Infrastructure is an individual contributor role responsible for architecting programs and driving execution across our global physical deployment portfolio. In this hands-on position, you will personally own high-complexity programs across the physical deployment lifecycle-defining success metrics, establishing stakeholder alignment, managing delivery schedules, and executing rack integration and delivery initiatives.

This role serves as a key strategic bridge across internal teams, ensuring seamless alignment on priorities, cross-functional dependencies, risks, and operational execution. As Nscale invests in bringing physical deployment capabilities in-house, you will build and scale global programs focused on rack integration and onsite deployment logistics.

You will collaborate closely with Data Center Development, Design & Construction, Engineering, Power & Utilities, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Legal, Commercial, Security, Network, Operations, and Executive Leadership to establish a unified operational cadence. The ideal candidate possesses deep, hands-on experience leading strategic infrastructure programs in data center, high-density compute, networking, or mission-critical environments, with a strong focus on technical depth and program delivery.

What You'll be Doing

Internal Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment

• Serve as the primary liaison and alignment point for internal and external teams involved in data center infrastructure delivery.
• Transform high-level strategies into structured, actionable programs that drive measurable financial, timeline, and risk-mitigation value.
• Establish robust communication frameworks, governance structures, escalation paths, and operational rhythms to ensure end-to-end delivery performance.
• Drive cross-functional consensus on program milestones, ownership, critical path dependencies, risk mitigation strategies, and executive decisions.
• Proactively identify operational bottlenecks, ambiguous scopes, or competing priorities, facilitating rapid conflict resolution.
• Synthesize complex technical, commercial, and financial data into clear executive briefings and actionable strategic proposals.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Partner with physical deployment engineers to champion high standards for program discipline, communication, and operational consistency.
• Mentor field technicians and site teams on executive reporting, risk management, and structured problem-solving techniques.
• Enhance organizational delivery capabilities by establishing playbooks, standardized templates, and continuous improvement reviews.
• Advise executive leadership on portfolio health, delivery risks, and strategic process improvements required to scale efficiently.
• Foster a results-oriented delivery culture grounded in accountability, technical rigor, and operational excellence.
• Experience: 3+ years of technical program management experience leading complex, large-scale infrastructure or physical deployment programs.
• Technical Domain Knowledge: Strong core understanding of data center physical infrastructure, networking, hardware architecture, and distributed systems.
• Program Rigor: Proven mastery of program management methodologies (PMP, Agile, or Scrum preferred) with exceptional stakeholder management and written/verbal communication skills.
• Execution in Ambiguity: Demonstrated ability to drive clarity and progress in fast-paced, high-growth environments while managing dynamic priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience managing programs related to data center infrastructure deployment, rack integration, and hardware commissioning.
• Background in hyperscale or public cloud environments supporting 24/7 mission-critical operations.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Willingness to travel periodically to data center project sites and deployment locations.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI-focused infrastructure, high-density compute environments, GPU clusters, or cloud region deployments.
• Familiarity with full-lifecycle data center deployment, including site development, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational handoff.
• Understanding of power infrastructure, utility interconnections, substations, cooling systems, switchgear, and MEP dependencies.
• Proficiency with enterprise program tooling such as Smartsheet, Jira, Asana, MS Project, Primavera P6, or Power BI.
• Proven track record scaling a program management delivery framework within a rapidly growing technical organization.
• PMP, PgMP, Agile, Lean Six Sigma, or similar certification preferred but not required.

The range below reflects the base salary for the position. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors such as skill set, experience, education, and location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for bonus, equity, and/or commission programs. Nscale may offer a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, flexible paid time off, parental leave, and retirement plan participation.

Salary Range

$190,000—$236,000 USD
