  • Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and clinical findings accurately.
  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, laboratory diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, medication preparation, and other appropriate clinical duties.
  • Support anesthesia monitoring, patient recovery, safe restraint, and low-stress handling when appropriately trained and authorized.
  • Advocate for patient comfort, safety, pain management, and quality veterinary care.

Client Communication and Education

  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding their pets' health, recommended diagnostics, treatments, medications, and preventive care.
  • Reinforce veterinary recommendations and help clients understand treatment plans and ongoing care needs.
  • Demonstrate empathy and professionalism when addressing client questions and concerns.

Team Training, Support, and Mentorship

  • Provide hands-on guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback to support team members' confidence and professional development.
  • Serve as a positive clinical resource by sharing knowledge, reinforcing best practices, and promoting consistency in patient care.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client service team members to improve communication, workflow, and overall hospital efficiency.
  • Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Hospital Operations and Medical Records

  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records using hospital practice management systems, including AVImark.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly sanitized clinical areas and equipment.
  • Follow hospital protocols for infection control, workplace safety, equipment use, and controlled substance handling and documentation.
  • Uphold hospital policies, ethical standards, and applicable veterinary practice regulations.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as needed to support the medical team and daily hospital operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of veterinary clinical experience preferred, with demonstrated competency in essential veterinary technician duties.
  • Strong knowledge of patient care, clinical procedures, diagnostic support, and veterinary nursing practices.
  • Previous experience training, mentoring, or supporting team members is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and patient safety.
  • Compassion for animals, commitment to client education, and a desire to continue developing clinical skills.
  • Bilingual communication skills are a plus.

Our Commitment to Team Member Well-Being and Development

At Shoreline Veterinary Clinic, we believe veterinary medicine requires more than technical knowledge or formal credentials. It takes dedication, compassion, curiosity, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of pets and their families.

We value individuals who take pride in their work, embrace opportunities to learn, support their colleagues, and strive to deliver outstanding patient and client experiences. We are committed to fostering a collaborative environment where team members can strengthen their skills, pursue professional growth, and contribute to the success of the entire hospital. We also recognize that caring for others begins with supporting the people who make that care possible. Through NVA's broader support network, eligible team members have access to benefits and programs designed to support their professional development and personal well-being. If you are passionate about veterinary medicine and want to grow alongside a team that values quality care, collaboration, and continuous improvement, we encourage you to apply.
