nVent is an electrical connection and protection company spun out of Pentair in 2018 that makes enclosures, thermal management, cable management and connection products for industrial, commercial and data centre customers. Its most consequential business has become thermal management for data centres: liquid cooling for high-density computing racks, where artificial intelligence accelerators generate more heat per rack than air can remove. Headquartered in London for tax and legal purposes with operations centred in Minnesota, it is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and has been reshaping its portfolio around electrification and data centre demand.

We’re looking for people who put their innovation to work to advance our success - and their own. Join an organization that ensures a more secure world through connecting and protecting our customers with inventive electrical solutions.

Make an impact where engineering is hands-on.

Join nVent’s manufacturing team in Aberdeen, North Carolina, where you’ll have the opportunity to work directly with equipment, processes, and people on the plant floor. The Aberdeen facility is the leading manufacturer of plated ground rods in North America and is expanding its capabilities with ERIFLEX/Flexibar production.

This is a great opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys solving real manufacturing problems and seeing the results of their work. You’ll join a collaborative plant environment with a “one team” mindset, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Manufacturing to improve how the facility operates.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Own meaningful engineering projects that improve safety, quality, equipment reliability, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Design, develop, implement, and improve manufacturing equipment, tooling, and production processes.
  • Work directly with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Manufacturing to solve problems and support the day-to-day needs of the plant.
  • Use equipment and reliability data to identify the root causes of downtime and put sustainable solutions in place.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support for complex mechanical equipment and manufacturing process issues.
  • Lead capital equipment projects from concept through startup, including equipment specifications, vendor coordination, procurement, installation, and implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ergonomics, safety, throughput, product quality, equipment reliability, and operating costs.
  • Help drive improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and plant performance.
  • Use Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methods to support Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Cash (SQDCC) goals.
  • Develop engineering standards, procedures, and documentation that help sustain improvements over the long term.

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, equipment reliability, maintenance, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience leading or supporting equipment upgrades, capital projects, and process improvements.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, or similar problem-solving tools.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, and project management tools preferred.
  • A hands-on approach to problem solving and an interest in working closely with production and maintenance teams.
