NXP Semiconductors is a Dutch chipmaker established in 2006 when Philips spun out its semiconductor division, and it concentrates on embedded processing rather than general purpose computing. Its largest market is automotive, where it supplies radar sensors, vehicle networking, battery management and the secure processors behind keyless entry and digital car keys, alongside industrial and internet of things microcontrollers, mobile secure elements and communications infrastructure silicon. Headquartered in Eindhoven and listed on Nasdaq, it is one of the leading suppliers of near field communication and automotive processing chips in the world.

Senior IC Verification Engineer,

Ready to shape the future of intelligent semiconductor systems at NXP?

At NXP, we develop advanced semiconductor solutions that help make the world smarter, safer, more secure and more sustainable. As part of our verification team, you will contribute to innovative integrated circuits supporting hearing, hearables and healthcare IoT applications, helping bring cutting-edge technologies from concept to reality.

Joining us means becoming part of a growing team of highly skilled verification and validation engineers working on complex low-power SoCs, DSPs and AI-enabled edge processing products. You will be challenged by technically demanding projects while benefiting from a collaborative environment that values innovation, technical excellence and continuous learning. As a Senior IC Verification Engineer, you will play a key role in defining, executing and continuously improving verification activities through modern automation and AI-assisted engineering practices.

As the team continues to grow, opportunities may arise to evolve toward a technical leadership position such as Verification Lead.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will contribute to the definition, implementation and execution of verification activities for complex integrated circuits involving high-performance digital logic, CPUs, DSPs, security engines, power management, analog functions and multiple communication interfaces.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Translating system and module specifications into comprehensive verification plans and coverage strategies.
  • Driving verification closure through functional, code and assertion coverage analysis.
  • Executing RTL, gate-level, timing-annotated, power-aware and mixed-signal verification activities according to project requirements and development milestones.
  • Analyzing simulation results, debugging complex system-level issues and working with design teams to resolve problems efficiently.
  • Leveraging modern technologies, including AI-assisted workflows and automation tools, to improve verification productivity and quality.
  • Taking ownership of subsystem-level verification activities and coordinating day-to-day verification work when required, including technical guidance to less experienced colleagues.
  • Reporting progress, risks and technical status to the IC Verification Lead and project stakeholders.

Our Team

You will join a growing verification and validation team mainly located in Leuven, Belgium, one of NXP's key innovation sites. Our team develops advanced mixed-signal semiconductor products combining digital processing, analog technology, machine learning, sensing and wireless connectivity.

The Leuven organization brings together experts in architecture, digital IC design, analog design, software, verification and validation, creating a highly collaborative environment where innovation and technical excellence go hand in hand. While the majority of the team is based in Leuven, daily collaboration with colleagues across Europe, Asia and North America provides exposure to a truly global engineering network.

You will report to the Verification & Validation Team Manager within the R&D organization.

Your Profile

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent by experience.
  • Typically, 5+ years of experience in digital IC verification.
  • Strong understanding of SoC architectures, including several of the following areas: CPUs, DSPs, security architectures, power management and digital communication interfaces.
  • Proven experience with modern verification methodologies, including SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to efficiently identify root causes of complex failures.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.

The following are considered strong assets:

  • Experience with power aware verification, gate-level simulation and timing verification.
  • Experience with analog mixed-signal (AMS) verification.
  • Exposure to AI and machine-learning based systems.
