NXP Semiconductors is a Dutch chipmaker established in 2006 when Philips spun out its semiconductor division, and it concentrates on embedded processing rather than general purpose computing. Its largest market is automotive, where it supplies radar sensors, vehicle networking, battery management and the secure processors behind keyless entry and digital car keys, alongside industrial and internet of things microcontrollers, mobile secure elements and communications infrastructure silicon. Headquartered in Eindhoven and listed on Nasdaq, it is one of the leading suppliers of near field communication and automotive processing chips in the world.

Contexte

Description de votre division

Missions

Description des missions

Context

Description of the Division

NXP develops high-performance mixed-signal technologies for automotive applications, helping make vehicles cleaner, safer, and more connected. Within the central CTO organization, engineering teams design analog, mixed-signal, wireless, and power management solutions to address the needs of the automotive market.

The EMC/ESD (Electromagnetic Compatibility / Electrostatic Discharge) team designs, integrates, and characterizes solutions to ensure the robustness of integrated circuits against electrostatic and electromagnetic stresses. EMC and ESD tests are performed on site, in state-of-the-art laboratories, on integrated circuits and embedded systems.

In this context, the ESD/EMC team is looking for a 6-month intern to apply a simulation flow to electronic boards (PCBs) in order to optimize their EMC performance. The simulations may also be validated through measurements if required.

Responsibilities

Mission Description

The intern will be responsible for one or more of the following activities:

  • Develop and validate electronic boards by following the proposed design flow.

  • Evaluate different PCB simulation flows integrated into CAD tools.

  • Perform EMC tests, including emissions and immunity tests.

  • Analyze the results and identify the reasons for discrepancies between measurements and simulations.

  • Write test summaries and present them to the EMC/ESD team.

  • Contribute to lessons learned and propose improvements to the PCB design flow.

  • Comply with test equipment safety procedures and specific operating instructions.

Experience and technical skills

Education level: Bac +5, student in a Master’s program or last year of engineering school in electronics, microelectronics, or physical measurements

Desired knowledge:

- Electronics / microelectronics,

- Instrumentation and test bench automation

- Basic knowledge of component-level EMC and radio frequency

- Basic knowledge of electronic board design using Cadence Allegro or OrCAD

- A first experience in measurement, validation, or a test laboratory environment would be a plus.

- Soft skills: rigor, autonomy, passion, curiosity, analytical thinking, and initiative.
