Obsidian Security is a SaaS security company headquartered in Newport Beach, California, and founded in 2017. The company monitors software as a service applications such as Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Workday, and Okta for account takeover, risky integrations, excessive privilege, and configuration drift. It sells to enterprise security teams that have moved core business systems into SaaS and lack visibility into activity inside those applications.

Obsidian Security is the leading SaaS security platform, trusted by global enterprises like Snowflake, T-Mobile, and Algolia. We protect 200+ organizations across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, including many of the world’s largest Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies.

Founded in 2017 and backed by top investors like Greylock, Obsidian was built to close a critical gap: securing SaaS apps where business happens-Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and hundreds more. The company does this by offering a complete SaaS security platform to reduce risk, detect and respond to threats, and prevent breaches at the source. Obsidian was built by leaders who redefined endpoint and identity security at CrowdStrike, Okta, Cylance, and Carbon Black. Now, they’re transforming how SaaS is secured.

With AI driving rapid SaaS growth and complexity, agentic AI tools gain privileged access to sensitive data through integrations, creating new risks most security tools miss. Obsidian uniquely detects anomalous OAuth token activity and manages integration risks. Major announcements are on the horizon. Recognizing that SaaS security needs to evolve, Obsidian enables growing organizations to start with a lightweight, prevention-focused browser extension and expand coverage over time.

With global momentum, a growing partner ecosystem including SentinelOne, Databricks, and Google Cloud, and a major fundraise ahead, Obsidian is scaling rapidly toward long-term growth and IPO readiness.

Senior Product Security Engineer - Taiwan

About the Role: Obsidian Security is looking for a Senior Product Security Engineer to join our growing engineering organization in Taiwan. In this role, you will strengthen the security of Obsidian’s products, software supply chain, development pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. You will work across the complete product lifecycle-from architecture and implementation through deployment and production operations-to identify security risks and build practical, scalable solutions. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring deep product security knowledge and strong software development skills. You will lead vulnerability and CVE remediation, improve security controls within CI/CD pipelines, conduct product security reviews, and develop security features for both application and infrastructure platforms. You will collaborate closely with Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, SRE, Security Research, and Infrastructure teams across Taiwan, the US, the UK, and Australia.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform security architecture and design reviews for new products, services, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure components.
  • Identify security risks early in the development lifecycle and help engineering teams design practical mitigations.
  • Lead the end-to-end CVE management process, including exposure analysis, risk assessment, prioritization, remediation, testing, deployment, and validation.
  • Evaluate the real-world exploitability and customer impact of vulnerabilities rather than relying exclusively on severity scores.
  • Partner with product, platform, infrastructure, and SRE teams to safely patch vulnerable application and infrastructure dependencies.
  • Improve patch reliability through automated regression testing, staged rollouts, compatibility validation, rollback mechanisms, and post-deployment monitoring.
  • Strengthen CI/CD pipelines with automated security controls, including dependency scanning, static analysis, container scanning, infrastructure-as-code scanning, secrets detection, and policy enforcement.
  • Develop and maintain software supply chain security controls covering source code, open-source dependencies, build systems, artifacts, containers, and deployment workflows.
  • Design and build security features for Obsidian’s products, backend services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Develop reusable security libraries, services, automation, policies, and developer tools.
  • Conduct threat modeling for product capabilities and identify risks related to authentication, authorization, data access, tenant isolation, secrets, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Review application code and infrastructure configurations for security vulnerabilities and design weaknesses.
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve secure coding practices and resolve complex security findings.
  • Investigate product and infrastructure security incidents, determine root causes, and lead corrective engineering work.
  • Define security requirements, standards, metrics, and release criteria for production services.
  • Improve visibility into vulnerability exposure, remediation status, security-control coverage, and residual risk.
  • Mentor engineers on product security, secure architecture, vulnerability remediation, and software supply chain security.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Significant experience in product security, application security, security engineering, cloud security, or a closely related discipline.
  • Deep knowledge of secure software development and common application security risks, including authentication flaws, authorization issues, injection vulnerabilities, insecure deserialization, secrets exposure, and data leakage.
  • Strong hands-on software engineering skills in one or more languages such as Python, Go, Java, Kotlin, TypeScript, or a comparable language.
  • Experience securing cloud-native SaaS products, distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and data-processing platforms.
  • Practical experience managing vulnerabilities and CVEs across application dependencies, containers, operating systems, cloud services, and infrastructure components.
  • Ability to assess vulnerability exploitability, exposure, business impact, remediation options, and deployment risk.
  • Experience implementing security controls in CI/CD and software development workflows.
  • Familiarity with application security testing technologies such as SAST, DAST, software composition analysis, container scanning, secrets detection, and infrastructure-as-code scanning.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, identity and access management, networking, encryption, and secrets management.
  • Experience conducting architecture reviews, threat modeling, secure code reviews, and security testing.
  • Ability to build security automation and product capabilities-not only identify or report security issues.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across product, pipeline, dependency, container, and infrastructure layers.
  • Ability to communicate security risks clearly and help engineering teams make informed, practical decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across regions, time zones, functions, and cultures. ## Nice to Have
  • Experience building cybersecurity, identity security, SaaS security, or enterprise security products.
  • Experience securing large-scale data ingestion, stream-processing, or batch-processing pipelines.
  • Experience with software supply chain security, SBOM management, artifact signing, provenance, and dependency governance.
  • Familiarity with security standards and frameworks such as OWASP, CWE, CVSS, EPSS, NIST SSDF, or SLSA.
  • Experience building policy-as-code, automated remediation, security guardrails, or developer security tooling.
  • Experience with penetration testing, vulnerability research, or responsible vulnerability disclosure.
  • Knowledge of multi-tenant SaaS security, tenant isolation, data privacy, and enterprise access controls.
  • Experience supporting security incident response and post-incident remediation.
  • Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams.
  • Mandarin proficiency.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Product security risks are identified and addressed early in the engineering lifecycle.
  • CVEs are assessed and remediated through a timely, risk-based, and measurable process.
  • Security patches are released safely, with effective testing, staged deployment, rollback, and production validation.
  • CI/CD pipelines provide meaningful automated security controls without unnecessarily slowing engineering delivery.
  • Product and infrastructure teams have clear security standards, reusable tools, and practical guidance.
  • Security features and platform controls measurably improve the protection of Obsidian’s products and customers.
  • Recurring security work is automated, and engineering teams increasingly incorporate security into their everyday design and development practices.
