Real opportunities. Real impact. Your career, redefined.

(NOTE: A human reviews every application at Oceans, so please apply for only one position and only once a year -if you're a better fit for another role, we’ll route your application accordingly and if we’re not quite ready for you, we’ll reach back out later.)

At Oceans, we help the best and brightest of Sri Lanka to take advantage of opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them, while supporting entrepreneurs around the world. Our community (we call them Divers) don’t do surface work-they go deep to solve complex challenges and make a real impact. And in doing so, they support bold ideas, expand their skills, broaden their expertise, and grow their careers, all without having to leave family and friends.

As the E-commerce Operations Lead, you'll own the day-to-day operational execution of a growing DTC e-commerce ecosystem, with a particular focus on Shopify administration, CRO, data analysis, quality assurance, product management, and cross-functional coordination.

You'll work deeply within Shopify and its interconnected subscription and marketing ecosystem, maintaining products, bundles, subscription offers, discounts, and related configurations while identifying and resolving issues before they affect customers. You'll also take ownership of structured CRO experimentation, using data to identify opportunities, execute tests, interpret results, and turn findings into practical improvements.

This is a highly hands-on role for someone who can bring structure to a complex e-commerce environment. You'll coordinate with developers, agencies, customer service, fulfillment teams, and external vendors, while documenting processes and creating repeatable systems that allow the operation to scale without relying on institutional knowledge.

Accountability

Your success as the E-commerce Operations Lead will be defined by your ability to keep the e-commerce operation running accurately and efficiently while proactively identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience and business performance.

Here's how you'll make an impact:

E-commerce & Shopify Operations

  • Own day-to-day Shopify administration across a growing subscription-focused DTC business.
  • Maintain products, bundles, subscription offers, discounts, selling plans, and related configurations.
  • Understand how Shopify and its broader application ecosystem interact.
  • Identify and troubleshoot configuration and workflow issues.
  • Support product uploads and ongoing product management.
  • Maintain accuracy across customer-facing e-commerce configurations.
  • Learn and operate across the broader e-commerce technology stack as required.

CRO & Experimentation

  • Own the operational execution of the CRO program.
  • Develop and execute structured experimentation plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer journeys and site performance.
  • Originate CRO ideas rather than waiting exclusively for predefined tests.
  • Coordinate experiment implementation with development partners.
  • Monitor experiments and interpret results.
  • Translate findings into practical follow-up actions.

Data & Reporting

  • Analyze e-commerce and CRO performance data.
  • Produce recurring operational reporting and insights.
  • Identify patterns, issues, and opportunities within site and customer data.
  • Use data to support experimentation and operational decisions.
  • Maintain accurate visibility into relevant e-commerce performance indicators.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct rigorous QA across Shopify configurations, subscription plans, discounts, product changes, and CRO implementations.
  • Validate changes before and after deployment.
  • Identify potential customer-impacting issues before they scale.
  • Establish repeatable QA processes and checklists.
  • Investigate discrepancies across interconnected e-commerce systems.

Development & Agency Coordination

  • Coordinate priorities with external development partners and agencies.
  • Maintain and assign work through project-management systems.
  • Translate operational requirements into clear development tasks.
  • Track open work through completion.
  • Coordinate CRO implementations, fixes, and e-commerce improvements.
  • Ensure dependencies and blockers are surfaced early.

Cross-Functional Operations

  • Act as an operational coordination point across growth, marketing, brand, creative, development, customer service, fulfillment, and external vendor teams.
  • Maintain context across multiple stakeholders and initiatives.
  • Keep e-commerce projects moving forward without unnecessary dependency on a single individual.
  • Communicate priorities, blockers, and next steps clearly across teams.
  • Participate confidently in calls and discussions with internal and external stakeholders.

Process & Documentation

  • Document existing e-commerce processes and systems.
  • Reduce reliance on institutional knowledge.
  • Create repeatable operating procedures.
  • Maintain clear documentation as the technology stack and team evolve.
  • Help establish scalable operating practices as the e-commerce operation grows.

Colleagues

As the E-commerce Operations Lead, you'll work across growth, marketing, brand and creative, development, customer service, fulfillment, and external partners. You'll need to be comfortable coordinating different stakeholders, translating operational requirements into clear actions, and maintaining enough context across the e-commerce ecosystem to keep initiatives moving forward.

At Oceans Talent, you'll also receive guidance and support from your Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in the role and ensure that you're continuously growing and developing in your career.

Skills and Qualifications

At Oceans Talent, we believe in T-shaped individuals-those who bring deep expertise in one area paired with broad curiosity across the business. As the E-commerce Operations Lead, your vertical focus will be on Shopify operations, CRO, and e-commerce execution, while your horizontal focus will include analytics, QA, product management, technical coordination, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience managing e-commerce operations, with meaningful ownership of Shopify and customer-facing e-commerce workflows.
  • Shopify: Real, dedicated hands-on experience administering Shopify, including products, offers, discounts, subscriptions, and related configurations.
  • CRO: Strong hands-on experience designing, executing, and evaluating CRO or A/B testing initiatives.
  • E-commerce: Experience working within a complex, subscription-focused or DTC e-commerce environment.
  • Analytics: Strong analytical capability and the ability to use e-commerce and experimentation data to identify opportunities and support decisions.
  • Quality Assurance: Strong understanding of e-commerce QA and the downstream impact that configuration or implementation errors can have on customers and the business.
  • Systems: Ability to understand how Shopify applications and interconnected e-commerce systems work together.
  • Coordination: Experience coordinating developers, agencies, vendors, or other external partners.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal English communication, with confidence participating in calls and presenting ideas to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and a rigorous approach to validating changes before and after deployment.
  • Ownership: Ability to work independently, prioritize competing initiatives, identify operational issues proactively, and follow work through to completion.
  • Availability: Ability to work a full 8-hour ET overlap during the required working day.

During the interview process, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in the following areas:

  • Shopify Operations: Demonstrate your hands-on experience managing Shopify and maintaining complex e-commerce configurations.
  • CRO & Experimentation: Walk through experiments you've personally designed or executed, including how you identified the opportunity, structured the test, and interpreted the results.
  • E-commerce Systems: Demonstrate your understanding of how Shopify, subscriptions, discounts, applications, and customer journeys interact.
  • Analytics: Show how you use data to identify issues, opportunities, and actionable insights.
  • Quality Assurance: Explain how you validate e-commerce changes and identify potential customer-impacting issues before they scale.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Demonstrate how you work with developers, agencies, vendors, and internal teams to move initiatives forward.
  • Ownership & Problem-Solving: Show how you prioritize competing operational needs, investigate problems, and take action without requiring constant direction.

Diversity of experience is core to Oceans. You are expected to work inclusively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring that both personal and collective dignity are supported.
