Job Title: Web Developer (WordPress, Headless CMS & D2C)

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia (On-site): 9 AM - 5 PM AEST

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Web Developer to take ownership of our WordPress websites, lead our transition to a headless CMS and build high-performing digital experiences that turn visitors into paying customers.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining and optimising our existing websites while developing customer-facing applications, including sign-up flows, checkout, account management and subscription services.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You’ll work closely with management and marketing to deliver technical solutions that directly impact website performance, customer acquisition, conversion and retention.

Key Responsibilities

WordPress Development & Website Performance

• Build, maintain and update WordPress websites using Elementor, custom themes and reusable components.
• Ensure website security, stability and performance, including Core Web Vitals, uptime and plugin management.
• Develop high-converting landing pages for marketing campaigns, with accurate tracking and analytics in place.
• Identify and implement ongoing improvements to website functionality, speed and user experience.

Headless CMS Development & Migration

• Evaluate and recommend suitable headless CMS platforms and modern frontend frameworks.
• Plan and lead the migration from WordPress to a headless CMS, including content modelling, URL mapping, redirects and SEO preservation.
• Build reusable component libraries that allow marketing teams to launch and update pages efficiently.

D2C Application Development

• Develop and improve customer-facing applications, including sign-up, checkout, account and subscription management.
• Integrate payment platforms, Salesforce and third-party APIs.
• Conduct A/B testing and optimise customer journeys to improve conversion rates and retention.

Analytics, Tracking & Collaboration

• Implement and maintain analytics and tracking through GA4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and Conversions API.
• Work closely with management and marketing to translate business requirements into functional technical solutions.
• Prepare clear technical documentation and ensure smooth handovers to agencies or other developers.
• Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Excellent spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate confidently with non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience working with direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands, either in-house or agency-side.
• Strong understanding of D2C customer journeys, subscriptions, conversion funnels and customer acquisition.
• Experience developing customer-facing web applications involving accounts, payments or subscription management.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on WordPress development experience, including custom themes, Elementor and plugin management.
• Practical experience with headless CMS platforms such as Contentful, Sanity, Strapi, Storyblok or headless WordPress.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as Next.js, Nuxt or Astro.
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Solid understanding of website performance, responsive design, accessibility and Core Web Vitals.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and payment platforms.
• Ability to manage priorities independently, identify risks early and take ownership of projects from development through to delivery.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Ability to work on-site in Sydney.

Nice to Have

• Experience integrating Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Sales Cloud.
• Experience with Stripe, recurring billing and subscription payment systems.
• Experience implementing GA4, Google Tag Manager and server-side tracking.
• Familiarity with Vercel, Netlify or similar hosting and deployment platforms, including CI/CD.
• Previous experience working with automotive, services or subscription-based businesses.
• A portfolio demonstrating measurable improvements in website performance, conversion rates or revenue.
