Octopus Electric Vehicles is one of the UK’s leading electric vehicle leasing businesses, with salary sacrifice and consumer leasing at its core and funding backed by institutional investors through securitisation. As our business continues to expand rapidly, optimising core financial operations to match our growing scale is critical.
This role sits in the Finance Analytics and Solutions team, which is the process improvement hub for Finance; working across technical data & analytics skillsets to stand up reporting capability, design data-led processes, and support our technology team with finance requirements for new systems and products. Our objective is straightforward: support Finance through sustained growth of the business by driving genuine efficiency.
We’re looking for a Finance Transformation Manager to own the platform vision for Finance. You’ll closely collaborate with our Product & Tech team to shape our leasing and billing platform. You will be responsible for synthesising priorities across all Finance functions, define target outcomes of success and help shape this long-term transformation.
This is a hands-on manager role that requires the analytical rigor and structured problem solving of a consultant; someone who can walk into an unfamiliar finance process, work out what’s broken, and build the thing that fixes it. The measure of success here isn’t the quality of your recommendations; it’s whether the processes you design can be handed over to the team and genuinely enhance efficiency.
What you'll do
- Own the finance requirements for the development of our leasing and billing platform, ensuring it supports securitisation reporting, accounting treatment and day-to-day operational finance
- Translate complex finance processes into clear, testable requirements that engineering and product teams can build from
- Design and build new finance processes end to end and hand them over so they run reliably without you
- Identify and remove manual BAU work across Financial Operations, Financial Control, FP&A, Credit and Capital Markets
- Lead the practical deployment of AI (we use Claude Enterprise) to automate repetitive finance tasks, applying rigorous cost/benefit judgement
- Work collaboratively across Finance, Data, Product and Operations on problems that don’t sit neatly within one team’s remit
- Help drive AI and data literacy across the Finance team
What you'll need
- 4+ years experience in consulting, finance transformation, finance systems, or finance-technology advisory, with accountability for delivery rather than contribution
- Experience shaping requirements for, implementing or advising on finance systems that connect billing, accounting, reporting and operational finance - you understand how data moves from a contract through to a report or regulatory return
- A consulting or internal-consulting background, with clear evidence of getting up to speed on unfamiliar finance processes quickly and driving structured problem solving independently
- The ability to translate finance needs into requirements technology and product teams can build from
Nice to have
In-house operating experience after consulting, ideally in a fast-moving scale-up or comparably autonomous environment
Exposure to financial services, energy, leasing, billing, securitisation or other complex finance and operational systems
Finance process improvement, workflow automation, data analytics, SQL or low-code automation experience - enough to have a real conversation with engineers and data people
Practical AI literacy - you’ve used AI tools to improve real processes, not just trialled them
A track record of building processes and operating models, not only producing recommendations
Why else you'll love it here
