Manager, Data Product Owner

The NFL's Data & Analytics team supports the Player Health & Safety (PH&S) organization by delivering trusted data, technology solutions, and actionable insights that help advance player safety across the League.

The Manager, Data Product Owner will serve as the business owner for key Health & Safety data products and initiatives. This role will partner closely with business stakeholders, data and engineering teams, and external vendors to define priorities, drive product adoption, ensure data quality, and deliver scalable solutions that support critical health and safety programs. The ideal candidate combines strong product ownership, project delivery, stakeholder management, and data governance experience in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the lifecycle of assigned Health & Safety data products, ensuring solutions align with business objectives, user needs, and operational priorities.
• Partner with business stakeholders to define product vision, requirements, priorities, and roadmaps that maximize organizational value.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives from discovery through implementation and ongoing operations, ensuring successful delivery of business and technical objectives.
• Manage project scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications to ensure projects remain on track and aligned with organizational priorities.
• Build strong relationships across Player Health & Safety, Data & Analytics, technology teams, and external partners to drive alignment and execution.
• Facilitate working sessions with stakeholders to gather requirements, establish priorities, and support informed decision making.
• Champion data governance practices and data quality standards that promote consistency, reliability, and trust in Health & Safety data assets.
• Partner with technical teams to identify and resolve data quality issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop scalable processes, documentation, and operational procedures that support sustainable product management and service delivery.
• Monitor product performance and business outcomes, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, user experience, and organizational impact.
• Influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment, driving accountability, collaboration, and successful execution without direct authority.
• Provide thoughtful recommendations, communicate risks proactively, and support strategic decision making across multiple initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product ownership, program management, project management, data management, or related discipline.
• Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives involving both business and technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience partnering with external vendors and third-party service providers.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within structured project delivery methodologies and collaborative work management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Technology Management, Business, or a related field.
• Experience supporting data, analytics, technology, healthcare, health and safety, or research-focused organizations.
• Experience with data governance, data quality, master data management, or enterprise data initiatives.
• Experience supporting cloud-based data platforms and modern data ecosystems.
• Agile, Scrum, PMP, or related professional certifications.

Terms /Expected Hours of Work:  

Expected 40-hour plus work week in office  

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
