Position Description
The Manager, Client Finance serves as a financial partner to client account leadership, agency teams, and internal finance stakeholders. This position is responsible for managing the financial operations of assigned client accounts, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, project accounting, financial reporting, and profitability analysis.
The Manager will provide clear financial insights, identify risks and opportunities, maintain strong financial controls, and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of client-facing and internal reporting. This individual will also serve as a key liaison among account management, media or project teams, shared services, and central finance.
Responsibilities
Client Financial Management:
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations of assigned client accounts.
- Own client budgets, forecasts, and financial tracking across projects or scopes of work.
- Serve as the primary finance partner to account management, project management, media planning, investment, and other client-service teams.
- Maintain accurate client budget documentation and ensure that changes are appropriately reflected across financial systems and reports, and are audit ready.
- Develop a strong understanding of client agreements, commercial terms, and account-specific financial requirements.
- Communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely client invoices in accordance with contracts, statements of work, and approved budgets. Maintain supporting documentation for client billing and financial transactions.
Month-End Close and Financial Controls:
- Prepare accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and other journal-entry support as part of the month-end close process.
- Ensure revenue is recognized accurately and in accordance with applicable accounting requirements and agency policies.
- Analyze revenue, costs, staffing, utilization, and other business drivers affecting client profitability.
- Identify and communicate financial trends, risks, and opportunities to account and finance leadership.
- Collaborate with shared service teams and financial reporting teams on revenue and expenses, billing, collections, payables, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and expense forecasts.
- Support annual budget and quarterly reforecast presentations.
- Prepare recurring financial reports, forecasts, budget updates, variance analyses, and management summaries.
Contract and Commercial Management:
- Review client contracts, statements of work, rate cards, discounts, incentives, and rebates for financial accuracy and operational feasibility. Translate contractual requirements into billing, revenue, forecasting, and reporting processes. Monitor financial activity against approved contractual terms and escalate potential compliance or commercial risks.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Consolidate complex financial information into clear, decision-useful reporting for client and agency leadership. Create presentations to communicate account performance and explain significant changes in revenue, spending, profitability, cash flow, and working capital. Respond to ad hoc financial requests and support special projects as needed. Maintain consistent reporting standards, quality controls, and submission timelines.
Qualifications
- 3+ years Client Finance experience at a media agency is preferred College Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or Marketing required or equivalent work experience. Knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue-recognition principles
- Ability to read and analyze financial statements
- Experience reviewing statements of work, rate cards, and other commercial agreements
- Familiarity with finance reporting tools, such as MediaOcean, Microsoft D365, TM1
- Experience in a fast paced, client service environment; a high sense of urgency, and a positive attitude. Exceptional written and oral communication skills required; with the ability to articulate clear, and concise narratives for a variety of audiences
- Advanced use of Microsoft Excel (i.e, pivot tables, macros, formulas, queries etc)Ability to problem solve to develop solutions; Highly analytical
- Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment as well as work effectively autonomously
$50,000-$95,000
Omnicom’s policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager. Our objective is to increase this requirement over time, and many of our agencies as well as Omnicom’s corporate group already require five days of in-office attendance.
