ONE PLAYGROUND PHILOSOPHY: “GREAT HUMANS”.

We are driven by our core values including “One Team” of “Great Humans” who “Master their Craft” and of course “Do Cool Sh*t!”. We believe that if we take care of our people, they will take care of our members.

People have been the key differentiator to One Playground's success. Today, we have a team of 450 Great Humans, a Senior Leadership team with an average tenure of 8 years, and being consistently recognised as one of Australia's best places to work.

Our human centric awards include being rated Top 50 Places to Work in Australia, Employer of Choice Award, AFR Best Places to Work and the ABA100® Winner for Training Excellence. The brand has been named as the best multi modality gym in Australia and the best boutique gym brand in APAC, while being mentioned along the likes of Six Senses hotels and Equinox.

BRAND AMBITION.

At One Playground, we are committed to creating the best gyms, not just the most gyms. The spaces are unique; we invest in curated designs, with luxury finishes and experiential moments.

Our ambition is to create more than a gym. But rather to create an ecosystem of premium lifestyle brands that Inspire Change for our members and our staff.

We do this through changing the gym environment and experience through beautifully curated spaces, quality coaching, experiential classes, premium wellness and community connection. And as we look to the future, we will do this beyond the gym with the One Coach and Destination One (retreat) brands.

The right Project Manager will believe in this vision and take pride in the fact that the spaces you deliver are what our members walk into and feel it.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Project Manager to join our in-house Projects Team and support the growth of One Playground through the delivery phase of our fitout projects. For the right candidate, you’ll be working on exciting high-end projects in landmark buildings and locations across Australia.

You'll be client-side, shaping landmark, state-of-the-art spaces across Australia - from tendering and builder selection through to construction, claims and handover and defect close out.

It's a role for someone who takes ownership, thrives on complex projects with a lot of moving parts, and brings more than technical skill, passion, purpose and people-first thinking.

You'll get to see your work land in the real world fast: walk into a space you tendered, built and handed over, live and full of members. If you want a career where you can point at a building and say "I made that happen," this is it.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES.

Tendering & Builder Management.

  • Lead and manage the tender process for fit-out and construction projects with builders and contractors

  • Manage the builder throughout construction and fit-out delivery, from mobilisation through to practical completion

  • Assess and administer progress claims, variations, extensions of time and claim structures in accordance with the head contract

  • Perform site visits to monitor progress, quality and WHS compliance across live projects

Fit-Out & Renovation Delivery.

  • Own small fit-out and renovation projects end-to-end, working alongside our in-house team and external consultants and subcontractors

  • Coordinate closely with our live gym teams to plan and sequence works with minimal disruption to trading and members

  • Maintain and update the project program across all sites

  • Assist with managing consultant teams, contractors and suppliers from concept through to construction and handover.

  • Manage defect identification and rectification through to sign-off.

Landlord & Portfolio Coordination.

  • Work with our in-house Portfolio Manager on landlord approvals and incentive draw downs.

  • Support lease and landlord-related requirements as they affect project design, program and cost

  • Liaise with landlords and their representatives on fit-out approvals and site access.

Finance & Cost Management.

  • Work within our finance system to manage project costings, purchase orders and approvals.

  • Partner with our Finance Manager on project budgets, cost reporting and approvals.

  • Track project expenditure and flag variances against budget and program.

Communication & Stakeholder Management.

  • Serve as the communication bridge between internal stakeholders, live gym teams and external vendors.

  • Schedule and run project meetings, tracking actions and follow-ups.

  • Prepare clear project updates and reports for the Head of Development and Executive Team.

  • Collaborate with all project stakeholders on design clarifications, RFIs, and approvals.

About you.

To excel in this role:

  • You take ownership and thrive on complex, moving-parts projects rather than waiting to be told what’s next.

  • You’re comfortable holding a room of builders, consultants and live gym teams to the same standard and timeline.

  • You bring more than technical know-how; passion, purpose and people-first thinking guide how you work.

  • You stay calm and solutions-focused when priorities shift or a live site throws up the unexpected.

  • You’re excited by the idea of shaping landmark spaces across Australia and building something you can point to.

Your Experience.

Not all experience is created equally. But the successful candidate would have a track record of supporting / managing fit-out, refurbishment or construction projects from tender through to handover, with a sharp eye for keeping builders, budgets and programs on track. You may have come from a client-side team or a head contractor background, and would like to take your project delivery skills and build something you can point to across some of Australia's best locations.

Additional important experience for consideration:

  • Confident running tender processes and administering head contracts, including progress claims and variations.

  • Strong financial acumen, with experience working within a finance or project costing system.

  • Comfortable coordinating multiple stakeholders; builders, consultants, landlords and live operational teams, at once.

  • Working knowledge of WHS compliance requirements on live construction sites.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU:

For the successful applicant, this role has the potential to be a career-defining opportunity to assist an already growing company through a period of rapid expansion.

Here are some of the benefits of working with One Playground:

  • Defined Career Pathway: Future opportunities to run your own construction projects and grow with the Development team as we expand.

  • Rapid Growth: Be part of a career-defining opportunity, joining an already fast-growing company through a period of rapid national expansion.

  • Great Humans: Join a dynamic, high-performing team at a company rated in the Top 50 Places to Work in Australia.

  • World-Class Facilities: Help shape landmark, state-of-the-art fit-out projects in some of Australia’s best locations.

  • Benefits: Free gym membership and access to every One Playground location.

  • World’s Best Industry: Work in a rewarding industry, making a genuine difference to people’s health and wellbeing.

For us, it doesn’t matter if you have less experience or more; what matters is alignment with our culture, having a passion for what you do and growing with the business in a meaningful and impactful industry.

If you are interested and find this exciting, we invite you to apply and send your resume & cover letter.

Applications close on 25th of October.
