SCOPE

TheCommunity Development Manager will lead, coach, and support a group of employees within various programs while ensuring ONWA’s vision, mandate, objectives, and membership deliverables are met and aligned with ONWA’s Strategic Plan. The Community Development Manager is responsible for ensuring all programs they oversee are implemented and managed according to the program standards and guidelines and work to facilitate achievement of the agreed program deliverables. The Community Development Manager is responsible for building capacity with membership organizations and partners across Ontario.

QUALIFICATIONS:

SKILLS:

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, Women's Studies, Health Studies, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Supervisory or Management role.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting and advocating for Indigenous communities, Indigenous women, and families.
• Demonstrated administrative management experience with the ability to supervise.
• Demonstrated high-level written, oral, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with partners and stakeholders to find collaborative solutions to complex issues.
• Demonstrated stakeholder management skills with the ability to establish and maintain credible relationships with senior management, Community Members, and partners.
• Experience with financial planning, program and project management, budget administration, planning processes, and reporting, including results-based planning and annual planning.
• Demonstrated experience providing services to Indigenous families and/or communities.
• Experience working within multi-year strategic plans.
• Solution-oriented with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent networking skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and connections.
• Experience coordinating and facilitating workshops, presentations, and/or conferences.
• Experience with resource development and implementation.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with the ability to independently follow through on assigned duties while meeting strict deadlines.
• Strong decision-making skills with the ability to set standards, establish priorities, and allocate time and resources effectively.
• Ability to prioritize programs and activities while balancing budget and time considerations.
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, the internet, and general office equipment.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge and experience with Indigenous culture, traditions, ceremony and connecting Community Members to cultural practices that can be used in supporting Community Members.
• Awareness of the recent, historical, and intergenerational trauma that Indigenous women, youth, and their families may have experienced, including the psychological, neurological, physiological, social, and spiritual impacts of trauma.
• Experience working and knowledge of Not-for-Profit organization program delivery and experience working with Indigenous governance structures and communities.
• Strong awareness of issues affecting Indigenous women and their families and awareness of available community resources.
• Thorough knowledge of other service agencies with a proven ability to build and maintain strong and healthy relationships.
