Role summary

The IT Support Specialist (Network, Office Buildout & Physical Security) is the hands-on, on-site IT presence for Ontic’s Pune office - focused on planning, deploying, and supporting network infrastructure, office technology, and physical security coordination to enable a smooth office launch and ongoing operations. This role partners closely with IT, Information Sec Security, DevOps, Facilities, Legal, and local vendors to execute installs, troubleshoot issues, maintain a reliable and secure office environment, and keep required physical security controls organized, documented, and audit-ready.

Schedule & location

• On-site: Monday - Friday, 10:00am-7:00pm (may vary once the office is opened and user behaviors require a different support window)

• Location: Ontic - Pune, India (on-site office presence required)

• Attendance: Able to reliably commute and be in the office every workday; comfortable supporting occasional after-hours cutovers during office setup or network changes

Key responsibilities

Office IT launch & ongoing buildout operations (Pune)

• Execute IT workstreams for the active office opening and startup phase: ongoing network optimization, equipment staging, and day-to-day IT support

• Coordinate with local vendors and contractors for structured maintenance, expansion of rack/IDF/MDF buildouts, and ongoing ISP provisioning while validating deliverables against requirements

• Maintain and refine the office IT operational checklist (network gear, spares inventory, labeling standards, architecture diagrams, and handover documentation)

Endpoint & on-site support

• Provide on-site and remote end-user support and incident triage for Pune teammates (macOS/Windows), prioritizing issues that impact office productivity

• Own tickets from intake to resolution; provide clear updates, timelines, and documentation

• Image/provision/configure new computers for onboarding (standard builds, enrollment, application baseline, security tooling, and handoff readiness; Noida handles provisioning for remote employees)

• Support day-to-day endpoint administration and lifecycle needs (enrollment, compliance posture, patching, refreshes, repairs, offboarding)

• Administer and troubleshoot endpoint management tooling, including:

  • Jamf (macOS management)

  • Microsoft Intune (Windows + mobile management where applicable)

  • Jamf Security Cloud (where applicable)

• Support Android devices (deployment, troubleshooting, basic management workflows) and Linux endpoints where needed (diagnostics, package/tooling basics, SSH, logs)

• Work with identity/access concepts and basic administration tasks as needed (SSO, MFA, conditional access concepts, basic Active Directory users/groups/permissions troubleshooting in partnership with centralized IT)

• Provide support for office printers and peripherals as needed

Networking, network equipment & architecture

• Deploy, configure, and support core office networking components, including:

  • Switches, routers, firewalls/security appliances, and wireless access points

  • Network closets/racks, patch panels, cable management, labeling, and inventory

• Own day-to-day troubleshooting for network issues (wired/wireless): DHCP/DNS, VLANs, routing, NAT, Wi-Fi performance, authentication/captive portals, and connectivity to SaaS/VPN resources

• Implement and maintain network segmentation and access controls in partnership with IT/InfoSec (guest vs corp networks, IoT/AV networks, least privilege)

• Document network architecture: logical diagrams, IP plans, VLAN maps, SSIDs, port assignments, circuit details, and standard configurations

• Participate in network change planning: maintenance windows, rollout plans, validation steps, and rollback procedures

Physical security coordination & compliance

• Serve as the local execution owner for Pune physical security readiness and vendor oversight, coordinating access control, CCTV, visitor management, and ensuring vendors meet required standards and documentation expectations.

• Administer the office Genetec security system.

• Help maintain required site documentation, including building agreements, emergency response plans, site risk assessments, evacuation information, and safety evidence

• Verify and document required safety and security controls such as fire extinguisher placement, inspection status, posted evacuation routes, and physical access procedures

• Organize and maintain physical security evidence for audits, compliance reviews, and ongoing control validation

• Support ongoing reviews of site access, visitor procedures, security coverage, and office technology risks

• Identify and escalate gaps that could create operational, compliance, safety, or security risk

Security tooling & endpoint protection (day-to-day)

• Support day-to-day administration, deployment, health checks, and basic troubleshooting for endpoint security tooling (CrowdStrike, Rapid7, Jamf, etc.)

• Follow Ontic security policies and IT standards; help enforce them with a customer-first mindset (least privilege, MFA, device compliance, patching, phishing awareness, secure configuration)

A/V and conference room support

• Support meeting room readiness (displays, microphones/speakers, conferencing devices) and basic troubleshooting

• Coordinate installations and upgrades for conference room equipment with vendors where applicable

Inventory & asset coordination

• Maintain accurate inventory for Pune office IT/network assets (network gear, spares, adapters, peripherals)

• Coordinate receiving, staging, and shipping/returns of equipment in partnership with centralized IT

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on IT support experience with a strong emphasis on networking plus strong endpoint support fundamentals

• Strong understanding of network fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing, DHCP, DNS, NAT, Wi-Fi design and troubleshooting

• Experience deploying and supporting network equipment in an office environment (switching, wireless, firewall/security edge)

• Ability to read/create network diagrams and maintain accurate documentation (IP plans, VLAN maps, rack layouts)

• Proven experience executing IT work for office buildouts, expansions, or relocations (vendor coordination, installs, cutovers, validation)

• Experience coordinating office physical security activities, vendor workstreams, or site readiness requirements

• Ability to maintain compliance-oriented documentation and evidence for office controls, safety procedures, and audit requests

• Solid troubleshooting skills with a structured approach (hypothesis-driven triage, packet/path reasoning, clear incident notes)

• Strong communication skills and customer-first mindset; able to coordinate across time zones with remote teams

• Comfort working with ticketing systems and maintaining operational discipline (updates, timelines, documentation)

• Strong working knowledge of macOS and Windows troubleshooting and support in a business environment

• Familiarity with MDM/endpoint management concepts (enrollment, configuration profiles/policies, compliance, patching, lifecycle)

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with enterprise Wi-Fi planning (AP placement concepts, RF basics, capacity considerations)

• Familiarity with security concepts and best practices for office networks (segmentation, device posture, least privilege, logging/monitoring)

• Familiarity with physical security systems such as access control, CCTV, visitor management, or related office security platforms

• Experience in Genetec security systems

• Experience supporting physical security controls in compliance-oriented environments

• Experience supporting VPN connectivity and remote access patterns

• Familiarity with basic cloud/SaaS connectivity troubleshooting (proxy/DNS issues, SSO impacts, egress constraints)

• Experience working with compliance-oriented environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.)

• Experience with Jamf, Intune, or equivalent endpoint management tooling (or strong ability to ramp quickly)

• Light scripting/automation is a plus, but not a primary requirement

• Pune office opens on time with stable, secure wired and wireless connectivity from day one

• Network equipment is installed cleanly with accurate labeling, inventory, and documentation

• Physical security systems, site safety requirements, and related controls are coordinated, documented, and ready for launch

• Compliance evidence for Pune physical security controls is organized and available for audit or leadership review

• Network incidents are triaged quickly with clear communication and effective escalation to centralized teams when needed

• Meeting rooms and office tech “just work,” enabling smooth on-site collaboration

• Vendors and installers are coordinated effectively, and changes/cutovers are executed with minimal disruption
