Job Summary & Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Software Test Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in verification and validation of complex software. You will be a key contributor on a team developing next generation solutions for our Metrology Business Unit. This position offers the unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your contributions will have a direct impact on the success of our products.
Job Summary & Responsibilities
- Perform requirements-based and system level testing across projects and platforms ensuring quality and efficiency for Onto's Metrology Business Unit solutions
- Cross-functional collaboration with software, hardware, manufacturing and applications teams to validate software
- Analyze and verify software requirements for testability, clarity and completeness
- Develop comprehensive test plans for new features and products
- Investigate, reproduce, log and escalate issues/defects
- Develop efficient test strategies (test cases and procedures) for the different sub-systems comprising the product
- Develop and execute automated and manual tests, regression, functional, and acceptance tests
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of software to ensure high-quality and reliable operation
- Participate in the design and implementation of new features and functionalities
- Perform design/code reviews for all automation scripts and manual test cases, collaborating with systems engineers, software developers, and other technical staff
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in software development and hardware-software integration
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Ability to understand requirements and design test strategies and plans based on those requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) in software testing and/or systems level testing for highly technical applications
- Experience developing automation frameworks or automated tests and scripting (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
- Excellent skillset focused on Windows development, the .NET platform (C#, C++), and relational databases (SQL Server a plus)
- Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail and quality. Demonstrated experience debugging complex multi-threaded environments
- Ability to design and execute test strategies and plans based on requirements and functional designs
- Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in the semiconductor industry
- Experience testing AI/ML based solutions
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, AzureDevOps) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices
- Ability to travel both domestically (~10%) and internationally (infrequent and only when needed)
