OVERVIEW

OnTrac is seeking a Java Lead (Spring WebFlux) to lead a development team building and supporting reactive microservices for a banking and payments customer in Las Vegas. You will own technical design, API and microservice architecture, and application stability, including production support, incident management, and root cause analysis. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical lead with deep Spring reactive programming experience who can lead a team, own production, and keep management informed with clear, regular updates.

ENGAGEMENT

  • Expected start: ASAP
  • Duration: long term; full-time or contract
  • Location: Las Vegas, NV - onsite Monday to Friday
  • You must be located in, or willing to relocate to, the Las Vegas area, and authorized to work in the United States

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a development team: set technical direction, review code, and mentor engineers
  • Design and build reactive microservices with Java, Spring Boot, and Spring WebFlux
  • Design APIs and apply sound architecture and design patterns across services
  • Build event-driven integrations with Kafka
  • Own production support and application stability: incident response, root cause analysis, and permanent fixes
  • Work across SQL and NoSQL data stores, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Provide regular status and technical updates to management and stakeholders

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree, plus 12+ years of IT experience after completing it
  • Proven technical lead experience, leading a development team
  • Spring reactive programming with Spring WebFlux (must have)
  • Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and microservices design
  • API design, design patterns, and architecture design
  • Kafka or similar message queues
  • Banking and payments domain experience
  • Strong production support, incident management, RCA, and application-stability ownership
  • SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB)
  • Strong client-facing communication
