Senior Android Engineer (Kotlin & AWS)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Android Engineer to join a cloud-native engineering team working on modern, customer-facing mobile applications and digital experiences.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining deep native Android development expertise with AWS cloud technologies, modern application architecture, CI/CD, testing, and direct customer collaboration.

You will work alongside Engineers, Architects, Engineering Managers, and Project Managers to design and deliver high-quality solutions for complex mobile initiatives. The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, the ability to build and maintain production-ready Android applications, and confidence working directly with customer engineering teams.

The ideal candidate brings deep Kotlin and native Android expertise, strong knowledge of application design and development patterns, AWS experience, and the communication skills required to succeed in a consulting and client-facing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, maintain, and enhance production-grade native Android applications.
• Develop high-quality mobile solutions primarily using Kotlin and modern Android development practices.
• Collaborate with Architects and Engineering Managers to translate technical requirements into scalable solutions.
• Apply appropriate application architecture, software design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Integrate mobile applications with APIs, cloud services, SDKs, and external platforms.
• Contribute to mobile initiatives involving tracking, attribution, deep linking, in-app experiences, and customer journey optimization.
• Write production-ready, well-tested, maintainable, and documented code.
• Build and maintain automated testing for mobile applications.
• Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting Android application delivery.
• Work with AWS services and cloud-native architectures supporting mobile applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across development, staging, and production environments.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and demos.
• Collaborate directly with customer engineering teams and clearly communicate technical decisions, progress, risks, and trade-offs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices, architecture, and delivery processes.
• Continuously optimize and improve the user experience of our mobile applications.

Requirements:

• Strong professional experience developing production native Android applications.
• Deep hands-on experience with Kotlin.
• Strong understanding of Android application architecture and software design patterns.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting production applications.
• Experience integrating mobile applications with APIs, SDKs, and backend/cloud services.
• Strong experience working with AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with CI/CD and mobile application delivery automation.
• Strong understanding of testing and software quality practices.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills.
• Ability to clearly explain technical decisions and trade-offs.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
