Open Data Jobs is a recruiting portal for data and technology professionals whose listings are filled for Peregrine Advisors, a Washington, DC data and technology firm organised as a benefit corporation that delivers work for US federal government agencies. The roles centre on federal enterprise data platforms built on AWS, including Amazon Aurora, DynamoDB, S3 and Apache Iceberg, together with secure CI/CD pipelines and Risk Management Framework compliance work. It advertises positions such as database developers, data engineers, data architects, data scientists, DevSecOps and cloud infrastructure engineers, AI engineers, business analysts and data governance specialists.

About Peregrine

Peregrine Advisors is a rapidly growing AI and data innovation hub helping government solve hard problems and deliver better outcomes. We work across the full lifecycle-from strategy and governance through architecture, engineering, analytics, AI, visualization, and training-for clients including the SEC, PCAOB, DDOT, and DCAA.

Our clients describe our support as “absolutely excellent” and our people as “instrumental to organization’s success.” Winner of the United Nations COP27 Datathon, our work has earned all Exceptional CPARS ratings, SEC Chair’s Awards, the SEC Vision Award, and recognition from FDA leadership.

We are also built differently. Peregrine is the first and only social enterprise organized as a Benefit Corporation and SBA 8(a) company focused on AI and data for government. We believe business success should create client value, social value, and opportunity for our people.

As we enter our next stage of growth, we need dependable, motivated, and skilled people who have a combination of intellectual curiosity and intellectual courage. With new clients, larger programs, and expanding responsibilities, the people joining Peregrine now will have the opportunity to help shape the company we become.

People first. Ownership always.

We solve problems through people, process, and technology-in that order. Technology matters, but people make transformation happen. That principle defines our culture. Trust and motivation are the foundational pillars of delivery on which our skills stand. We hire people we can trust, who care deeply about what they do, take ownership, learn quickly, help one another, and refuse to walk past a problem because it belongs to someone else.

At Peregrine, you are not joining simply to fill a position. You are joining a team, taking ownership of a mission, and helping build a company. If that excites you, we should talk.

At Peregrine Advisors, you will keep the development team building a federal agency's filer application system on schedule, on scope, and ahead of its risks. But we hire people, not seats. As the work evolves, you will move to where the hardest problems are.

This is a remote position. The initial engagement requires United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.

Your first project

Your first project will likely have you running delivery for the team building the application that carries a federal agency's filer applications from submission to decision, built in Python on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Depending on the assignment, you may:

  • Own the schedule: build and maintain the integrated plan, track milestones and dependencies, and see slippage early enough to do something about it.
  • Run the Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives, with a backlog the team and the product owner both trust.
  • Manage risks and issues: keep the risk register current, drive each issue to an owner and a date, and escalate what the team cannot resolve on its own.
  • Report status that leadership can act on: weekly reports, sprint metrics, and briefings that state progress, risks, and decisions needed without dressing them up.
  • Track outcomes, not only activity: measure whether each release improves how quickly and accurately the agency processes its filer applications.

You help deliver a secure, automated system that carries filings from submission to decision, on a schedule a regulated federal program can rely on.

This is where you start, not the shape of your career here.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of project management experience on software development projects
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Running Agile delivery: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Building and maintaining project schedules, including milestones, dependencies, and the critical path
  • Risk and issue management, including maintaining a risk register and driving mitigation
  • Status reporting to client and internal leadership, in writing and in briefings
  • Agile tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps, and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet
  • Working with developers, testers, and product owners to plan releases and manage scope
  • Enough technical fluency in software and cloud delivery to judge estimates, dependencies, and release risk with the engineers
  • Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Agile certification, such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
  • Managing delivery of cloud applications on AWS
  • Managing delivery of document-processing or case-management systems
  • Federal information technology experience, including contract deliverables and reporting
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted project management tooling

Who you are

You keep a team moving without getting in its way. You know where every piece of work stands and what could stop it, you raise a risk while there is still time to act on it, and you tell leadership what is true rather than what is comfortable. You experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly. You would rather own an outcome than be handed a task.

What you bring

  • Delivery discipline: a schedule that reflects reality, milestones that mean something, and dependencies tracked before they bite.
  • Agile practice that serves the team: ceremonies that are short, useful, and end in decisions.
  • Risk judgment: telling a risk that needs escalation from one the team can absorb, and acting on the difference.
  • Status reporting that is accurate, brief, and clear about what is needed from whom.
  • Clear communication with developers, testers, product owners, and client stakeholders, so that scope and priorities are understood the same way by everyone.

When we talk

Be prepared to discuss a difficult problem you worked through, the decisions you made, what happened, and what you learned.

Benefits

This is a full-time W-2 position with a salary of $100,000 to $140,000 per year.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance with the employee premium fully paid and half of dependent premiums; employer-paid life, accidental death, and short-term and long-term disability insurance; a 401(k) with an employer match of up to 4% of salary; unlimited paid time off; and sponsored professional certifications and continuing education.

What we offer

You will work alongside developers, engineers, data scientists, architects, and strategists, on work ranging from strategy to implementation. We support your development across assignments and clients through extensive onboarding, sponsored professional certifications such as the Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) and AWS technical certifications, and rotation across functions to expand your skills and perspective. The mission is real, the problems are hard, and you own what you ship.

What we commit to

As a Benefit Corporation, our commitment runs three ways: real, measurable value for our clients; government that works better for the public; and a team that makes everyone in it better.

We hire people who want to help build the firm, not just work at it. If that is you, apply.
