Applications Engineer Overview We are seeking an Applications Engineer to support the adaptation and application of existing product designs to Canadian construction standards and codes. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product application, and customer-facing technical support, enabling sales and project teams to execute with confidence across Canada. The successful candidate will bring strong structural or mechanical engineering experience, a practical understanding of Canadian codes (BC, AB, ON), and the ability to translate engineering concepts into real-world construction applications and product solutions.

Responsibilities Apply existing product designs to meet Canadian construction standards and building codes Act as an internal technical authority on code compliance and engineering feasibility Support the construction sales team with technical input, design guidance, and go/no-go project assessments Provide technical direction for product applications and development improvements Manage and maintain product documentation, including SAOs and Canadian compliance files Coordinate with external professional engineers for certifications, stamped drawings, and inspection letters Support coordination of third-party site inspections and engineering verification processes Contribute to product testing and validation activities Collaborate with sales and project teams to strengthen technical confidence in bids and execution Translate engineering requirements into clear, practical communication for non-technical stakeholders Technical

Requirements Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline Strong understanding of Canadian construction codes and standards (BC, AB, ON required exposure) Experience in structural applications, construction products, or engineered systems Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks (2D and 3D) Experience coordinating with Professional Engineers (P.Eng.) for stamped deliverables Ability to interpret engineering drawings and translate them into practical applications Familiarity with product documentation and technical compliance processes Soft Skills & Attributes Strong communication skills with ability to simplify technical concepts Commercial awareness and ability to support sales-driven engineering decisions Practical, solution-oriented engineering mindset Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong collaboration skills with internal teams and external engineering partners Preferred Experience Background in construction products, structural systems, or applied engineering roles Experience in applications engineering or technical sales engineering Exposure to project coordination or light project management Experience working with external drafting or engineering resources #P1
