Oracle is an American enterprise technology company founded in 1977 by Larry Ellison, Bob Miner and Ed Oates, and headquartered in Austin, Texas. It built its business on the Oracle Database, still the reference relational engine for large transactional systems, and has expanded into a full applications suite covering finance, human resources, supply chain and customer experience through Fusion Cloud and NetSuite. Its fastest growing segment is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, which the company has positioned aggressively for AI training and inference workloads through large multi-year capacity contracts.

Oracle Hardware is seeking a highly experienced Lead Principal Electrical Engineer with expert GPU and CPU systems engineering knowledge to lead complex hardware development, integration, validation, and production introduction initiatives.

In this senior individual contributor role, you will lead complete GPU system development programs in collaboration with Oracle engineering teams, external manufacturers, and NVIDIA and AMD engineering teams. You will apply deep technical expertise to GPU/CPU system integration, hardware and software validation, complex issue resolution, and production delivery.

You will play a critical role in executing strategic engineering initiatives, influencing technical decisions across multiple organizations, and driving GPU platform readiness, quality, and delivery. This position requires strong technical judgment, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to resolve complex engineering challenges through expertise and collaboration.

GPU/CPU Systems Engineering and Integration

  • Lead complex GPU platform development and implementation initiatives from engineering requirements through system qualification and production readiness.
  • Apply expert GPU and CPU architecture and systems engineering knowledge to hardware and software integration, validation, debugging, and production delivery.
  • Resolve complex system integration issues involving GPU and CPU platforms, firmware, drivers, baseboard management controllers (BMCs), and associated hardware and software components.
  • Analyze engineering logs, vendor diagnostic tools, validation results, and technical evidence to investigate system-level issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Evaluate technical design options and engineering trade-offs in collaboration with Oracle engineering teams, NVIDIA, AMD, and external manufacturing partners.
  • Translate customer and product requirements into actionable engineering requirements supporting platform development, validation, and delivery.

Hardware Validation and Production Readiness

  • Lead integrated GPU platform validation activities to ensure products meet established engineering requirements and quality expectations before release.
  • Develop and align validation plans, test strategies, and qualification activities across internal engineering teams and external partners.
  • Review engineering test results, validation logs, supplier data, and technical findings to assess product readiness and identify unresolved risks.
  • Drive investigation and resolution of complex hardware, firmware, and system integration issues affecting product quality, qualification, and production readiness.
  • Coordinate technical issue resolution with engineering organizations, silicon partners, suppliers, and external manufacturers.
  • Support successful transition of GPU hardware platforms from development and qualification into production.

Technical Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a recognized technical subject matter expert in GPU/CPU systems engineering, providing guidance on complex engineering challenges and technical decisions.
  • Lead cross-functional engineering initiatives involving multiple organizations, technology partners, and external manufacturers.
  • Collaborate closely with NVIDIA, AMD, Oracle engineering teams, and suppliers to resolve technical dependencies and align engineering priorities.
  • Influence engineering strategies and technical decisions through demonstrated expertise, sound judgment, and effective communication.
  • Present technical trade-offs, validation findings, product readiness assessments, quality risks, and recommended actions to engineering leadership and senior stakeholders.
  • Anticipate technical and execution risks, evaluate potential impacts, and drive appropriate mitigation and corrective actions.
  • Coach and mentor engineering peers and small teams, sharing technical knowledge, industry practices, and lessons learned to strengthen engineering capabilities.
  • Provide technical leadership through collaboration and influence in an individual contributor capacity without direct employee management responsibilities.

Engineering Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Apply established industry practices, emerging technologies, research, and innovative engineering approaches to solve complex GPU/CPU system challenges.
  • Use structured technical investigation, engineering evidence, and controlled experimentation to evaluate potential solutions.
  • Assess engineering decisions and technical alternatives based on quality, schedule, cost, and operational impact.
  • Identify opportunities to improve GPU platform integration, system validation, technical issue resolution, and production introduction processes.
  • Contribute technical recommendations that support broader engineering strategies and long-term product objectives.
  • Promote disciplined engineering practices, technical documentation, change management, and knowledge sharing across participating teams.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive relevant experience in electrical engineering, GPU/CPU systems engineering, hardware systems development, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Expert knowledge of GPU and CPU system architecture, integration, and validation, including NVIDIA and AMD platforms.
  • Deep understanding of hardware and software interactions across complex GPU/CPU systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with firmware, drivers, BMCs, vendor diagnostic tools, engineering logs, and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience leading complex hardware development initiatives spanning engineering requirements, integration, validation, qualification, supplier readiness, and production introduction.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate complex technical problems, evaluate engineering evidence, and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with external manufacturers, technology partners, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
  • Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and make informed engineering decisions involving quality, cost, schedule, and operational considerations.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and the ability to influence engineering decisions across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical findings, risks, recommendations, and engineering decisions to technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Experience applying industry practices, research, emerging technologies, or structured experimentation to complex engineering problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor peers, share technical expertise, and contribute to engineering process improvements.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, with relevant education and professional experience evaluated under Oracle's applicable equivalency guidelines.
  • A typical IC5 experience profile includes 16+ years of relevant experience, with applicable education and experience equivalencies considered.
  • Relevant technical certifications, military technical training, and demonstrated engineering project experience may be considered where applicable.

Technical Leadership and Impact

As a Lead Principal Electrical Engineer, you will operate as a senior technical expert whose contributions influence engineering decisions and product outcomes across multiple organizations.

You will be expected to independently navigate complex GPU/CPU systems engineering challenges, provide technical direction, and guide engineering teams and external partners toward successful integration, validation, qualification, and production readiness.

Your work will directly contribute to GPU platform quality, technical readiness, and delivery while supporting Oracle's broader hardware engineering objectives.
