As a key member of our Technical Publications team, you will help design, author, and publish the documentation that supports ORBCOMM’s Industrial IoT offerings, from peripheral Installation Guides to platform User Guides and everything in between. In this role, you will collaborate across hardware, firmware, SaaS applications, mobile teams, Product Management, Engineering, Support, and Operations to ensure our customers have access to accurate, effective, and high-quality documentation.

What You’ll Do

Technical Documentation

• Create, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including user guides, release notes, API documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational procedures.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate content.
• Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Support, and Operations teams to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Establish and maintain documentation standards, templates, style guides, and best practices.
• Continuously improve content quality, discoverability, consistency, and user experience.

Documentation Planning & Delivery

• Serve as the central point of coordination for documentation requests across multiple teams and initiatives.
• Assess incoming documentation needs and determine scope, dependencies, priorities, and deliverysequencing.
• Break down large documentation efforts into manageable work items and milestones.
• Maintain visibility into documentation commitments, progress, risks, and upcoming deliverables.
• Coordinate reviews, approvals, and feedback cycles with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ensure documentationdeliverables remain aligned with product release schedules and business priorities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Facilitate information gathering across a broad range of internal stakeholders, including hardware, firmware, software, mobile, and customer-facing teams.
• Investigate and validate technical information through direct use of the products and systems being documented.
• Gather stakeholder feedback and incorporate improvements into documentation deliverables.
• Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to team members.

Process & Operational Excellence

• Identify bottlenecks, competing priorities, and resource constraints and proactively recommend solutions.
• Track documentation work through Jira and maintain an organized, transparent, and actionable backlog.
• Establish processes for intake, prioritization, estimation, status tracking, and reporting of documentation activities.
• Develop lightweight workflows that improve documentation throughput and stakeholder visibility.
• Create effort estimates for documentation initiatives and support release planning activities.
• Monitor documentation metrics and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Promote a culture of documentation ownership, continuous improvement, and operational rigor.

Who You Are

You’re a strategic thinker with a knack for execution excellence, ready to tackle multiple priorities with agility and grace.

If you have:

• 8+ years of technical writing experience.
• 4+ years of experience with MadCapFlare and Capture (Intermediate level or higher).
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
• Familiarity with Jira for task tracking and workflow management.
• Familiarity with version control repositories and clients such as TortoiseSVN.
• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation for software, SaaS platforms, hardware products, or related technologies.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competingpriorities with minimal supervision.
• Ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to meet multiple concurrent deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to edit and proofread work with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet demanding delivery schedules.
