Principal Product Manager - Platform Security

About the Role

PagerDuty is seeking a Principal Product Manager, Platform Security to own the strategy and execution of how we secure, harden, and defend our Operations Cloud platform. This role sits within our Product Development organization and reports to the Sr Director of Product, Platform & Partners.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You'll bring the same rigor to security that a great PM brings to a product: deep customer empathy, structured threat modeling, clear risk tiering frameworks, and a bias toward measurable outcomes. You'll also be the connective tissue between Product, Engineering, IT, and Legal, ensuring security strategy translates into engineering execution and customer trust. This role owns the full lifecycle from recommendation to implementation to operations. You'll be the decision-maker on risk acceptance, control exceptions, and incident escalation in real-time.

The ideal candidate has operated at the intersection of product management and security engineering in a later-stage B2B SaaS environment. You've owned security architecture decisions end-to-end, built security infrastructure, and have the credibility to influence both product roadmaps and engineering practices without formal authority.

What You'll Own

Product & Platform Security

• Define and evolve PagerDuty's platform identity and security architecture - trust boundaries, authentication and authorization models, and secrets management frameworks
• Admin experience and admin console for enterprise and security administrators
• Build and maintain a security review process so product teams bring security into roadmap decisions early, not as an afterthought
• Own the security platform roadmap 
• Provide security and secure-design leadership to other product teams across the portfolio

What You'll Build

This role owns a portfolio of platform security surfaces that includes:

• Identity & Permissions platform - the authentication and authorization foundation for both human users and AI agents, spanning roles, scopes, and delegated access as agentic workflows become first-class actors on the platform
• Security products - customer-facing capabilities such as IP Allow list and SCIM, extending the set of controls enterprise customers need to adopt PagerDuty at scale
• Admin experience - the tooling administrators use to configure, audit, and govern their PagerDuty environment, with opportunity to improve clarity and self-service
• Partner security and governance - the shared services, primitives, and audit surfaces that every partner team builds on
• Partner with executive leadership to align security strategy with company-level trust and resilience targets

The opportunity is to bring these surfaces together into a coherent platform so security decisions and actions happen faster, customers can govern their own environments with confidence, and product teams have primitives they trust and actively build on.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years in B2B SaaS in roles spanning product management, security engineering, and/or platform security
• Demonstrated experience owning security architecture and risk tiering decisions - not just supporting them
• Track record of running security programs and measuring risk reduction impact
• Strong cross-functional credibility with Engineering, Legal, Product, and Go-To-Market leadership
• Experience managing security change in the field - migrations, re-architecture, new authentication and authorization models - with the communication skills to bring stakeholders along
• Ability to mentor other product managers and raise the security bar across a product organization without direct reports

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience at a company during transition to zero-trust or hardened multi-tenant isolation architecture
• Familiarity with security infrastructure (IAM, secrets management, vulnerability and posture tooling)
• Familiarity with B2B SaaS compliance frameworks, customer security review processes, and audit considerations

Compensation

The base salary range for this position in the US is 180,000 - 303,600 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.

Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
