ABOUT PARALIAN LIFESTYLE
Paralian Lifestyle is a curated homeware and interiors brand based in Mauritius, inspired by island living and the beauty of the coast. We bring together artisan-made pieces from makers in Southern Africa, India and beyond, each chosen for its craftsmanship, natural materials and lasting style. We are a small, founder-led business with a shop and an online store. We're looking for a Shop Manager to run the store day to day and make it a warm, beautiful place to shop.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service
- Welcome customers warmly, offer assistance, and
answer questions about products and services.
- Provide product knowledge and make
recommendations to support customer needs.
- Assist customers with purchases and orders,
including processing payments accurately.
- Address customer complaints and inquiries
promptly, resolving issues to maintain satisfaction, and report all complaints
to management.
- Process returns, exchanges and refunds in line
with store policy.
- Manage the business WhatsApp account, replying
promptly to customer enquiries, order updates and product requests in the
brand's tone.
- Ensure a pleasant shopping environment by being
polite, attentive, and well presented at all times.
- Offer upselling and cross-selling suggestions
where appropriate to increase sales.
- Support basic administrative duties (e.g.,
maintaining customer records, updating databases).
Store Operations
- Act as key holder, opening and closing the store
on time and following all security procedures.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment in
the shop, stockroom, and surrounding areas (including storefront and parking).
- Ensure air-conditioning, music, lighting, and
overall ambiance are functioning and welcoming, and report any maintenance or
repair needs to management.
- Manage consumables and packaging supplies (bags,
wrapping paper, bubble wrap, etc.), advising when re-orders are required.
- Carry out the safe and professional packaging of
products.
- Gift wrap items as required and manage
registries on an ad-hoc basis.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene
standards within the store.
Merchandising & Display
- Assist with shop displays, ensuring shelves and
stockrooms are clean, organised, and visually appealing.
- Change product displays regularly, respecting
established merchandising principles (e.g., grouping by theme, colour, or
category).
- Tag and label products accurately with prices
and promotional information.
- Inform customers about new arrivals,
bestsellers, and upcoming products according to order sheets.
- Support the creation of marketing content,
catalogues and visual merchandising, both in store and online, on an ad hoc
basis when requested.
Stock & Inventory Management
- Receive deliveries, unload products, and check
them against delivery notes.
- Record deliveries accurately in the system and
prepare stock for display.
- Load new stock items and supplier bills onto the
system.
- Inform management when items need to come from
the storage/warehouse before they run out in store.
- Prepare and pack online and click-and-collect
orders for dispatch or collection.
- Carry out regular stock counts, including
quarterly full stock takes, and report discrepancies or damages to management.
- Monitor inventory levels and highlight low stock
for reordering.
Sales & Performance
- Work towards monthly sales targets and share
ideas to grow in-store sales.
- Give feedback to management on customer trends,
best-selling products, and requests for items we don't currently stock.
Cash Handling & Reporting
- Process transactions accurately via cash, card,
and other payment methods.
- Manage the cash float and secure daily takings
according to store procedure.
- Reconcile daily sales against invoices and
payment records (cash, card, Juice, etc.).
- Report and monitor outstanding payments.
- Prepare daily sales and reconciliation reports
for management review.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train and manage temporary and seasonal
staff, including onboarding and product training.
- Plan staff rotas and cover for busy periods,
holidays and events.
- Lead by example on customer service,
presentation and store procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

in homeware, interiors, fashion or lifestyle. Supervisory experience is an
advantage.
