Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor will take charge of cost estimation, measurement, valuation and cost control on construction projects. The role exists to ensure that project spending is closely tracked, that changes to scope are valued correctly, and that works are completed within the approved budget and in line with contractual terms.

Location: Uyo, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria

Cost Estimation and Budgeting

• Put together cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQs) and take-offs of material quantities.
• Examine drawings and specifications to determine the quantities required and their cost implications.
• Assist with project budgeting, cost planning and financial forecasting.
• Track project spending against the approved budgets.

Measurement and Valuation

• Measure completed works and produce interim valuations and payment applications.
• Check claims submitted by contractors and subcontractors before payments are recommended.
• Carry out site measurements to verify the quantities of work carried out.
• Keep accurate records of measurements, valuations and payments.

Contract Administration and Variations

• Examine contract documents, scope of work and pricing schedules.
• Evaluate variations, change orders and additional works.
• Prepare variation estimates and keep the variation register up to date.
• Assist in preparing and reviewing contractual claims and final accounts.

Procurement and Commercial Support

• Supply quantity and cost information that supports procurement decisions.
• Review quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for commercial comparison.
