SITEC - LINUX Systems Engineer - MacDill AFB

Responsibilities

Peraton requires Systems Engineers to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) - 3 EOM. This position is located at MacDill AFB in Florida.

The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.

The System Engineer role requires a strong technical foundation in managing and securing enterprise server environments, with a primary focus on Linux systems and the ability to operate proficiently within Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Windows Server experience is also required. This position is responsible for ensuring system availability, integrity, performance, and security across complex infrastructures, both on-premises and in cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with identity technologies and Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) platforms and must be highly adaptable to support a diverse portfolio of enterprise applications. The System Engineer must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, a strong customer service orientation, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Technical Knowledge:

• System Design and Architecture: Deploy, configure, and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise Linux server environments with supporting experience in Windows Server platforms.
• Adaptability Across Applications: Support, manage, and troubleshoot a wide variety of enterprise applications, and services, ensuring compatibility, reliability, and optimal performance across environments.
• Performance: Analyze, optimize, and troubleshoot system and application performance issues across Linux and Windows environments.
• Security: Implement and maintain system security controls including hardening, access controls, patch management, audit logging, secure configuration baselines, and compliance with DoD security requirements.
• Identity & Access Governance(IGA): Experience with identity platforms and IGA solutions (such as SailPoint or similar).
• Collaboration: Work effectively within cross-functional teams and coordinate with administrators, engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and other stakeholders across multiple time zones.
• Communication: Communicate technical information clearly and professionally to both technical and non-technical audiences. Capable of producing clear documentation and written communication.
• Problem Solving: Analyze complex technical challenges and develop innovative, scalable solutions aligned with organizational needs.
• Continuous Learning: Maintain a continuous learning mindset and stay current on emerging technologies, system administration best practices, and evolving security standards.
• Preferred Skills: Experience with supporting technologies including Red Hat Identity Management, Active Directory/Entra ID, Active Roles(ARS), DNS, PKI, Kerberos, automation tools (bash, PowerShell etc.).
• In addition to these skills, the administrator should be familiar with government and industry security standards such as STIGs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Min 12 years with HS degree, 10 years with AS/AA degree, 8 years with BS/BA, 6 years with MS/MA
• DoD 8570 IAT II Certification
• Must be DoW 8140 compliant under the Work Role Code 451 - System Administrator - Intermediate level or higher
• DoW TS/SCI clearance

Desired Qualifications:

• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) OR
• LPIC-3

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
