DevOps Engineer

At Persistence, infrastructure is a core part of the product, not just a support function. We are building systems that are reliable, scalable, and easy to operate. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer who can work across infrastructure, application systems, and production environments. This role requires strong ownership, problem-solving ability, and collaboration with engineering teams to improve system performance and reliability.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure across staging and production environments.
• Ensure systems scale effectively based on real-world usage.
• Debug and resolve production issues across infrastructure, networking, and application layers.
• Collaborate with developers to improve deployment processes, observability, and reliability.
• Build tools and automation to enhance developer productivity.
• Optimise system performance, cost efficiency, and operational simplicity.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and system design.
• Ensure infrastructure supports product requirements, including APIs and real-time systems.

Requirements:

• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (EKS, EC2 VPC, IAM, S3 Route 53 CloudWatch).
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e. g., Terraform).
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TLS, load balancing, routing).
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of Linux systems.
• Ability to read and understand backend code (Node.js, Python, Go, or similar)
• Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with real-time systems or voice/agent infrastructure.
• Familiarity with high-throughput APIs or event-driven architectures.
• Exposure to security and compliance best practices.
• Experience building internal developer tools or platforms.
• Experience scaling systems in early-stage or high-growth environments.
