Job description:

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our technology team in London. This role helps build and maintain the infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and monitoring that our trading, research, and operations systems run on. It is a hands-on position with a broad remit, offering real ownership and visible impact on how the business runs.

The role sits alongside software developers, data engineers, and infrastructure staff, with support from senior engineers as the successful candidate develops. We are looking for someone curious and methodical, who enjoys understanding how systems fit together and takes pride in making things reliable and repeatable rather than merely working.

Responsibilities will include: 

• Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for internal applications, working with developers to make releases faster, safer, and more automated.
• Support day-to-day requests from development teams, helping developers debug build, deployment and environment issues.
• Support and extend our cloud and on-premise infrastructure, including provisioning environments and managing configuration through infrastructure-as-code.
• Help operate monitoring, alerting, and logging so that issues are caught before they affect users, and contribute to investigating and resolving incidents when they occur.
• Write scripts and small tools to automate manual and repetitive operational tasks.
• Contribute to improving software delivery practices across the technology team.
• Participate in an on-call rotation, providing out of hours support for DevOps related issues impacting critical services.

Required qualities and skills:

• 3+ years of experience in a DevOps, platform, infrastructure, or software engineering role, including internships and placements.
• Experience with Git and standard branching and code review workflows.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling, particularly GitHub Actions.
• Exposure to containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc).
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools, particularly Terraform.
• Experience working with a major cloud platform (Azure, GCP, AWS).
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, load balancing, firewalls).
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical issues to colleagues from non-technical teams.
• Scripting ability in at least one of Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred:

• Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Server administration.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus, Application Insights, or Sentry.
• Some SQL and exposure to relational databases, particularly SQL Server.
• Awareness of security and compliance considerations in a regulated financial services setting.
