Tech Lead

We are seeking an experienced backend engineer to lead the design, reliability, and scalability of our external API platform. This role owns the external-facing surface area of the platform and is responsible for building and maintaining APIs that support high traffic, strict SLAs, and demanding partner integrations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building REST and WebSocket APIs used by external customers such as trading applications, algorithmic traders, institutional clients, and white-label partners. This role requires strong distributed systems fundamentals and the ability to build highly reliable real-time systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain highly scalable REST APIs supporting core trading functions such as orders, positions, balances, and account state.
• Develop and maintain real-time WebSocket APIs for market data, order updates, and trading events.
• Own the end-to-end API platform, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance under heavy load.
• Implement rate limiting, quotas, and fair-use enforcement to protect platform stability and prevent abuse.
• Design and implement secure authentication and authorisation mechanisms for API clients and applications.
• Work closely with internal teams to support partner and institutional integrations.
• Build and maintain B2B / white-label API offerings for institutional and enterprise partners.
• Manage API lifecycle processes, including versioning, deprecation policies, and backward compatibility.
• Collaborate with product, trading, and infrastructure teams to ensure APIs meet performance and reliability expectations.
• Continuously improve API observability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
