Are you a curious and driven student with a passion for numbers and a fresh perspective? Pilot Company is seeking a Program Intern for our Energy Trade Risk/Mid Office team in Houston, Texas, for the summer of 2027. This is a unique opportunity to directly support the coordination between trading desks and key downstream functions, including credit, accounting, settlements, treasury, and confirmations.
In this role, you will be an integral part of our team, tackling key responsibilities that directly impact our operations. Your work will contribute to reporting processes that provide energy commercial teams and senior finance management with clear, timely, and accurate views of positions, risk, and financial performance.
What You’ll Do
Your responsibilities may include:
Navigate End-to-End Commodity Flows: Gain direct exposure to the full lifecycle of physical and financial commodity trades-from acquisition and global supply chain logistics to pricing, hedging, and final settlement.
Coordinate Cross-Functional Operations: Act as a central bridge between trading desks and downstream partners (Credit, Accounting, Treasury, Settlements, and Confirmations) to ensure seamless operational handoffs.
Maintain Operational Control & Accuracy: Proactively resolve trade discrepancies and audit supply chain touchpoints to maintain total control, compliance, and transparency across the business.
Deliver High-Impact Commercial Reporting: Prepare clear, timely position and risk reports that provide commercial energy teams and senior leadership with clear visibility into financial performance and risk exposure.
Drive Process & Risk Integration: Experience firsthand how trading strategy, risk management, and back-office operations intersect to support controlled, efficient global supply chain activities.
What We’re Looking For
Education: A student pursuing a degree with coursework in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or a related area of study. Experience or interest in Energy is a bonus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel is essential. Experience in Tableau, AI SQL or data bricks is nice to have.
Soft Skills: A quick learner with strong analytical thinking skills. You should be driven to meet deadlines and be reliable in your work. We value individuals who are also authentic and welcoming.
