The Senior Systems Analyst provides specialist business and systems analysis capability across the Department of Social Services (DSS) and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Quality and Safeguards Commission (NQSC) application portfolio. The role is responsible for analysing business requirements, conducting impact assessments, engaging stakeholders, and translating business needs into functional and technical specifications that support system enhancements, legislative change, cyber uplift initiatives and operational improvements.

The role provides analysis and design expertise across several bespoke applications, including Data Exchange (DEX), Identity Manager (IDM), ADFS Administration, Staff Administration, ARC Support Suite, Toolbox Services, Rehabilitation Management System (Dynamics CRM), and Ministerial and Parliamentary Services (MaPS).

These systems support critical business functions including identity and access management, data exchange, records management, corporate administration, workplace health and safety, and regulatory services for DSS and NQSC.

The position contributes across all stages of the application lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, testing and ongoing maintenance, helping ensure critical applications remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose for DSS, NQSC and external stakeholders.

May be required to participate in an on-call roster and perform occasional after-hours or weekend work to support application releases, testing activities, incident resolution and production support requirements.

  • Solution Design and Documentation: Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications, user stories, process flows, acceptance criteria and solution design artefacts. Assess system dependencies, integration impacts, risks, effort estimates and implementation considerations for proposed enhancements and changes.

  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Support development and testing activities through the review of requirements, user stories, test plans, test cases and acceptance criteria. Assist business stakeholders during User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure delivered solutions align with business requirements and quality expectations.
  • Cyber Uplift and Application Enhancements: Contribute to cyber security initiatives, legislative and policy-driven system enhancements, application upgrades, system integrations and continuous improvement activities across the DSS and NQSC application portfolio.
  • Implementation and Operational Support: Work collaboratively with developers, testers, infrastructure teams and business stakeholders to support solution implementation, production releases, incident resolution and ongoing application maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge Transfer and Continuous Improvement: Maintain analysis and solution documentation, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support knowledge sharing activities to build APS capability.
