Subtitling Specialist (Japanese Speaker)

Our technical services master and prepare this content in all distribution products including digital cinema, digital media and physical media (Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD).

About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Japanese Subtitling Specialist to perform subtitle QC, QA, and technical reviews for Japanese-language content. The successful candidate will help ensure subtitle assets meet client specifications and quality standards for global distribution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Japanese Studies, Media, or related field.
• Japanese language proficiency JLPT N3 or higher is required.
• Strong Japanese and English language skills.
• 1-3 years of experience in subtitling, localization, translation, or media operations.
• Familiarity with subtitle standards and QC processes.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with subtitling tools (EZTitles, OOONA, Subtitle Edit, Canvas, etc.) is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform QC, QA, conformance, and technical checks on subtitle assets.
• Review subtitle timing, formatting, synchronization, and readability.
• Ensure compliance with client specifications and style guides.
• Identify and resolve linguistic and technical issues.
• Prepare and deliver subtitle assets for OTT, broadcast, and digital platforms.
• Maintain workflow documentation and quality checklists.
• Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support other localization tasks as assigned.
