Position Overview:
As the SAP Controlling (CO) Manager, you will serve as the functional owner for the SAP S/4HANA Controlling domain, with primary responsibility for management accounting, manufacturing cost management, product costing, profitability analysis, planning, and financial performance reporting. Working as a hands-on individual contributor, you will translate requirements from Finance, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Technology teams into standardized SAP solutions. The initial focus is implementing product costing and related Controlling capabilities, followed by broader ownership of finance-related SAP products after go-live. This role offers the opportunity to shape a large-scale SAP transformation and establish the costing, asset-lifecycle, and analytical capabilities used to support operational and strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Controlling functional lead for the SAP S/4HANA implementation, integrating finance processes with manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, product lifecycle management, Project Systems, Asset Accounting, planning, and reporting solutions.
- Lead fit-to-standard workshops to capture business requirements, define future-state Controlling processes, identify solution gaps, and guide stakeholders toward SAP standard practices and clean-core principles.
- Perform and validate hands-on SAP configuration for Cost Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Product Costing, Material Ledger, Profit Center Accounting, Margin Analysis, planning processes, and related finance capabilities.
- Design and implement manufacturing and product-costing methodologies, including standard costing, moving-average costing, inventory valuation, cost-component structures, overhead allocation, and month-end costing processes.
- Partner with business stakeholders to determine the appropriate costing granularity by vehicle identification number, model, product line, location, or other approved level and define cost elements such as labor, overtime, parts, overhead, and freight.
- Define and support profitability analysis and Margin Analysis capabilities, ensuring consistency among product costs, operational activity, financial results, and management reporting.
- Establish integrated processes across SAP Finance, Materials Management, Production Planning, Project Systems, Asset Accounting, and Material Ledger to support asset creation, product manufacturing, distribution, settlement, and lifecycle cost analysis.
- Serve as the functional design authority by reviewing and approving system-integrator designs, SAP configurations, enhancements, interfaces, reports, analytics, and data-conversion approaches.
- Own Controlling master-data requirements, including cost centers, profit centers, internal orders, activity types, statistical key figures, cost elements, and allocation structures.
- Develop and execute integration-testing scenarios, maintain functional and configuration documentation, and support deployment, training, knowledge transfer, financial close, and post-go-live optimization activities.
Desired Competencies:
- Technical / Functional Expertise: You apply the required technical or professional knowledge to perform your role effectively and stay current within your area of expertise.
- Business Acumen: You understand how your work impacts financial performance, operational efficiency, and organizational goals, and you make decisions with the broader business context in mind.
- Collaboration: You work effectively with others across functions and levels, contributing to shared goals while respecting different perspectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of overall IT with increasing scope and responsibility, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience configuring and implementing SAP Controlling solutions.
- Experience completing at least one full SAP implementation, with experience supporting SAP S/4HANA implementations, conversions, or brownfield transformations required and multiple large-scale S/4HANA implementations preferred.
- Current hands-on SAP S/4HANA configuration experience in Margin Analysis and CO-PA, Product Costing, Material Ledger, Cost Center Accounting, and FI-CO integration.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing costing, standard costing, moving-average costing, inventory valuation, cost-component structures, overhead allocation, management reporting, and profitability analysis.
- Experience designing integrated business processes across SAP Finance, Asset Accounting, Materials Management, Production Planning, Project Systems, and related solutions.
- Experience defining SAP integrations and collaborating with finance and manufacturing stakeholders, technical resources, data-migration teams, and system integrators.
- Experience supporting SAP FI-CO, financial close activities, costing runs, allocations, settlements, inventory valuation, asset-lifecycle processes, and profitability reporting.
- Experience authoring and executing integration-test scenarios, supporting solution deployments, and working with SAP Business Technology Platform products.
- Ability to communicate complex financial, operational, and technical concepts to senior leaders, business users, and technical team members.
- Ability to work within a hybrid model consisting of three days in the office and two flexible workdays.
- Ability to work within a hybrid model, 3 days in-office, 2 days of flex.
