About BigTime
BigTime is a PSA (professional services automation) platform built for professional services firms - Consulting, IT, Engineering, and Architecture firms that run projects, staff people, and bill clients for a living. We serve thousands of customers, tracking more than $8 billion in billable time each year.
We're headquartered in Chicago, with offices in Phoenix, Boston, and Wrocław (Poland).
We're building the next generation of our platform, organized into cross-functional pods that each own a product surface end to end. This role leads one of them.
About the Role
The Resource pod owns staff, demand, and capacity - the discipline of knowing who's available, what's coming, and how to put the right person on the right project at the right margin. It's the product behind BigTime's Resource Management capability: staffing visibility, demand matching, and forecasting that ties staffing decisions directly to margin.
This is one of the most commercially validated parts of our business - a live cross-sell motion across every customer segment. You're the person who defines what resource management becomes on our next-generation platform, informed by deep knowledge of the current product and where the market is headed, while continuing to run today's roadmap in the meantime.
What You Will Own
Demand and capacity forecasting. Turning pipeline and signed work into a forward view of the gap between who's needed and who's available - the number that changes a hiring decision before the money is spent, not after.
Billable utilization and bench visibility. Availability, time to staff an open role, and the cost of unbilled available capacity.
Staffing-driven margin. The skill, availability, cost, and margin trade-offs behind a staffing decision, and getting that visibility in front of the person doing the staffing at the moment they make it, not in next month's report.
Revenue per billable consultant. How returned capacity converts into billable hours and realized rate.
The current Resource Management product surface - staffing and allocation, skills and certifications tracking, leave and calendars - and the permission model beneath it.
The next-generation specification for this surface. It's written from the ground up and grounded in deep knowledge of the current product.
What You Will Do
Write the specification for resourcing on our AI-native platform, precise enough that engineering can build from it and a resource manager would recognize it as correct.
Spend real time with resource managers, staffing leads, and operations leaders at services firms, and turn what you hear into requirements with defensible priority.
Track the resource, staffing, and workforce-planning software market on an ongoing basis and represent competitive and customer pressure in roadmap decisions.
Make the prioritization calls for your surface and defend them with usage and customer evidence rather than volume.
Partner daily with engineering and design inside the pod, and across pods that own delivery execution and commercial data.
Define acceptance criteria, including for AI-assisted staffing recommendations, and hold the quality line before anything ships.
Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Finance so the roadmap reflects what wins deals and what keeps customers - Resource Management is a live cross-sell motion today, not a hypothetical one.
Own the resource and capacity data contract that other product areas build against.
What We Are Looking For
Product Management Foundation
4+ years of product management experience on a B2B SaaS product, ideally with genuine depth in resourcing, staffing, capacity planning, or workforce management.
A track record of shipping capability that customers actually adopted, not just features that launched.
Strong relationship management with customers - owning and/or joining customer calls for partnership, feedback and collaboration
Strong written communication - you can hold a position in a document and change your mind in public when the evidence moves.
Strong collaboration, communication and accountability skills for working with a globally distributed team. Your counterparts will be in the United States.
Comfort operating with ambiguity.
Experience working directly with engineering on data models and system design.
You work AI-native. AI is part of how you do the job, not a topic you have opinions about - using it to draft and maintain specs, competitive analysis, and customer research synthesis, and to prototype quickly rather than waiting on a design cycle.
Resourcing, Staffing, and Workforce Planning Background
You don't need to have been a resource manager, but you need to understand how a services firm actually staffs a project and protects margin doing it. Any of these gets you a conversation:
Resourcing or staffing operations at a professional services firm - consulting, IT services, engineering, architecture, or accounting - where you owned utilization, capacity planning, or bench management.
Product management on a resource management, staffing, or workforce planning product.
Implementation or solution consulting on a PSA or workforce-management platform, configuring staffing, skills, or capacity modules for real clients.
The job requires understanding what makes a staffing decision different from a scheduling one: how skill, availability, cost, and margin trade off against each other; why bench cost is a P&L line and not just an HR metric; the difference between a task assignment, a planned allocation, and logged actuals, and why conflating them breaks a capacity forecast; and what a demand forecast needs to be credible enough that a firm hires or subcontracts against it instead of finding out at close.
Helpful, Not Required
Background in professional services, consulting, agency, or architecture and engineering firms.
Experience with AI-driven matching or recommendation systems, in staffing, scheduling, or a similar domain.
Experience with skills taxonomies, certifications tracking, or competency management.
Having migrated customers off a legacy resourcing or staffing system.
Work on multi-entity or multi-currency capacity models.
