Princeton University is a private Ivy League research university in Princeton, New Jersey, offering undergraduate and graduate programs across the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and engineering. Chartered in 1746 as the College of New Jersey, it is the fourth-oldest college in the United States, holds an endowment of about $37.6 billion, and manages the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory for the US Department of Energy. Its staff openings range from IT service, data governance and administrative applications to HR, events, library, building services, landscaping and maintenance roles, alongside research scientists and engineers at the plasma physics lab.

Overview

The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory currently uses two (2) large, stored energy, Motor-Generators, each generator rated at 450 mega-volt amperes (MVA), to supply power to the various experimental loads in support of NSTX-U operations. Each motor-generator is driven by a 15,000 HP wound-rotor induction motor rated at 13.8 KV. The motor-generator engineer ensures the successful operation, performance and maintenance of the motor-generator (MG) sets and associated systems.

A U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratory managed by Princeton University, the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) is tackling the world’s toughest science and technology challenges using plasma, the fourth state of matter. With more than 70 years of history, PPPL is a leader in the science and engineering behind the development of fusion energy, a potentially limitless energy source. PPPL is also using its expertise to advance research in the areas of microelectronics, quantum sensors and devices, and sustainability sciences. Whether it be through science, engineering, technology or professional services, every team member has an opportunity to contribute to our mission and vision. Come join us!
