Job Title: Senior Backend Developer

Location: Tin Can Island, Apapa, Lagos

Job Summary

• The successful candidate will develop reliable, secure, scalable, and high-performing applications, maintain existing systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and collaborate with relevant teams to deliver quality software solutions aligned with business requirements.
• The Senior Backend Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing robust backend applications and database systems.
• The role requires strong hands-on expertise in C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core, Blazor Web App, ASP.NET Web Forms, and Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL).

Key Responsibilities
Backend Development and Application Engineering:

• Build and maintain web applications using Blazor Web App and ASP.NET Web Forms.
• Identify opportunities to improve application architecture, code quality, and system efficiency.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications while ensuring compatibility, reliability, and performance.
• Translate business and technical requirements into functional software solutions.
• Develop reusable, maintainable, and efficient code in line with established coding standards and software development best practices.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications using C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and .NET Core.

Database Management and Optimization:

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize databases using Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL).
• Troubleshoot database-related issues and improve query performance.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and database scripts.
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, security, and efficient retrieval.
• Support database maintenance, backup, recovery, and performance monitoring in collaboration with relevant teams.

Application Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

• Maintain and improve legacy applications, including systems built with ASP.NET Web Forms and VB.NET.
• Document technical issues, resolutions, system changes, and application configurations.
• Implement fixes, updates, and enhancements while minimizing disruption to business operations.
• Conduct code reviews, debugging, testing, and performance optimization.
• Diagnose, investigate, and resolve complex application defects, performance issues, and system errors.

System Integration and Performance:

• Identify and address performance bottlenecks across backend services and database operations.
• Develop and maintain application components and integrations required for effective communication between systems.
• Apply appropriate security practices to protect application functionality and data.
• Support the deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of applications.
• Ensure applications are responsive, reliable, scalable, and capable of supporting business needs.

Testing and Quality Assurance:

• Develop and execute unit tests and other relevant technical tests to validate application functionality.
• Participate in technical reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
• Provide technical support during user acceptance testing and production releases where required.
• Identify and resolve defects before deployment.
• Ensure code meets defined quality, security, maintainability, and performance standards.

Collaboration and Technical Documentation:

• Participate in requirements analysis, technical planning, and solution design.
• Prepare and maintain clear documentation covering application architecture, database structures, code changes, and system procedures.
• Work with frontend developers, software engineers, business analysts, quality assurance personnel, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
• Communicate technical issues, progress, and proposed solutions effectively.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other developers where necessary.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional certifications or additional technical training will be an advantage.
• Practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) database development and optimization.
• Demonstrable hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications using C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and .NET Core.
• A strong track record of troubleshooting complex software issues and delivering reliable application solutions.
• Experience working with both modern .NET applications and legacy ASP.NET Web Forms systems.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in backend development.

Required Technical Skills:

• Programming Languages: C# and VB.NET.
• Platforms and Technologies: Blazor Web App and ASP.NET Web Forms.
• Software Engineering: Object-oriented programming, debugging, testing, code optimization, application maintenance, and technical documentation.
• Database: Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), SQL queries, stored procedures, database design, and performance optimization.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to investigate complex technical issues and implement effective, sustainable solutions.
• Frameworks: ASP.NET and .NET Core.

Salary
N1,500,000 - N1,800,000 / month.
